Nicola's Needlework 2021

Post by Nicola Main »

A new year a new thread! So I started this guy on 30th December and I'm loving the different reds and corals. It is a Bothy Threads called 'Festive Feathers' and he was a Christmas present from my dear friend, Cheryl. We have a custom now in that every Christmas we send each other a kit (I bought her the Rockin Robins one). He is a North American bird called a Northern Cardinal (or sometimes just Cardinal) and his name is Carl. Once I've finished the head I will update with another photo! xxx

Carl is off to a lovely start. :)

My granddaughter’s spirit animal is the cardinal. It’s so cute, when she sees one she says “I’m a red bird...that’s me”.

I took one look at it and thought Cardinal!! I guess the official name is Northern Cardinal and the male is especially beautiful. Or should I say handsome.
I can't wait to see this piece as you stitch further as I'm sure it will be as great as the other Bothy Threads.

I am looking forward to seeing it finished. Cardinals are also good fathers and mothers.

I adore cardinals. :whoop: This one has a character all right. And not too much back stitch, which makes the design even more attractive. Nicola, as always, you have done the work perfectly well. :applesauce: Looking forward to his holly branch.

Happy stitching!

He looks beautiful but a bit precarious without his branch :-)

Carl is fabulous! I love cardinals...although I have never seen one in person. They tend to stay in the eastern United States, although there have been some sightings in Colorado.

'Carl" is a very gorgeous young man and I am sure he will love having his holly branch to sit on - much more comfortable. :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop:
