If it were not for work, the tigers would be produced one tiger a day, as it is, it takes 3 evenings to make one. I cant remember when I started, but my kids now have quite a few symbols of year for their trees. I failed to stitch a rat last year. Panna has an ornament with mice, so I will perhaps make it some day.

Yes, Mabel, 2 tigers were made on leftovers of the American plastic I had and one was stitched on some rubbish plastic with tiny holes, so my fingers hurt from effort and the pointing finger of the left hand was "wounded" in a few places by the needle. Hence my rush to buy Darice. I like to stitch on it, even though it makes my stitching slower because the needle has to go perpendicularly to the canvas, unlike my "sewing" tqchnique on Aida. Everything is learnt in comparison- after plastic, even the best one, stitching on Aida feels like whistling-easy and demanding less concentration. The worst thing with plastic is fixing the thread when you have to change the colour. Sometimes I use a sort of "mini parking"- a couple of threads hanging from the right side of the work in order not to cut them before using again. With few colours and small area(tigers are 5x6cm) it does work for me.

The sixth has gone to a good lady.

The camera makes them look as bright as traffic lights. In reality the colours are quieter: DMC 469 and 471, 900, 741, 3855...

If there was a collective noun for tigers, it might well be a "pride", and these tigers are beautiful.

(I just looked it up: the oldest known collective noun for tigers is a "serenade"... suspect those colonial civil servants had had one too many gin & tonics!)

Thank you for having taught me that word for the tigers' group, Serinde.

To all who commented on my tigers: I am really happy with all the kind words about the tigers. A word from an experienced and skillful stitcher is worth a lot. Thank you all very much.

In reality, there are 8 stitched one after another within two weeks. One was given away before the rest were finished.

It is amazing, how he matched the colours of the church above him and was neither too large nor too small for that tree. Yulya was so happy with the tiger.

It happened so that I am starting Janlynn's "Sportsman's Dream" for the second time. It is quite a slow process, but the motivation is very high, so fingers crossed. :ratherbe:
