I've made a fair amount of progress on Princess Leia. Easy to stitch when its getting cooler outside. The hardest part is that the chart shows no overlap between pages. Even with the Good Notes App on my iPad which lets me put 2 pages side by side its an adjustment. Guess I've gotten spoiled with HAED and other charts I've stitched that usually have 1 to 3 stitch overlap horizontally and vertically. There are separate charts for the back stitching, which I am very grateful for because these are colored charts. I'm actually looking forward to the back stitching, because the colors are so close and some are blended threads which makes it even more hard to see certain features clearly.

The cross stitching is done and the back stitch is today's project. Then I will have to decide if I continue with the afghan or return to one of may HAEDs. Probably sticking with this one for a while. Afghans for the winter stitching makes sense to me.

That's what I call a Hercules' project. But when completed, it will be a masterpiece well worth the time and effort.

Thank you for the feedback. Most certainly keeps me motivated. I use regular DMC cotton floss on all the afghans and they have been washed numerous times over the years on the gentle or delicate cycle and then I toss them in the dryer. Never had a problem. I try much harder on the afghans to keep the backs relatively neat. If I'm going over several stitches I'll try to weave the thread through the back. Sometimes I even surprise myself that you can see the image back and front (almost) For years that was all I stitched, frames being expensive. My eyes are happier with the afghans since I think, if I remember correctly they are 18 ct vs the 25 or 28 ct fabrics on my HAEDs. The only place that is tricky is when I have to stitch over the more loosely woven square edges.

I'm going to see if any of the Star Wars fans among us can identify the figures that will be coming next.

Thanks. This would be similar to the alphabet Afghan I stitched many years ago. I started it for my first grandson, and finished it for my second.

Amazing what back stitching can do. Took longer than I thought it would but not too difficult. One of the best things about the charts from this designer (will have to double check that) is that there is a completely separate chart for the backstitching. So much easier (especially since these are colored charts not black and white)to see since much of these are really straight stitches over several squares rather than plain back stitching.

Now on to the second Star Wars character. This time I'll take guesses. One hint is that these characters are from Episodes 4,5,6 (the original trilogy) and 7,8,9 (the last trilogy).

Thanks for looking.

That really makes it pop, and what a sensible arrangement to have them charted separately!

She looks great!! I, too, like separate charts for stitching and back stitching. It does make it easier when backstitching crosses a square and covers a symbol.

Re: Star Wars Afghan - which character is this? 12/11/2021

Actually, I've gotten a good bit done on my next character. I'm sure he or she will not be too difficult to identify, but it depends on how many Star Wars geeks there are in the forum besides me. I forgot how much can be done in a week when a chart isn't filled with confetti.

I'll pass on guessing as I've never seen any of the films :-) but that's great progress!
