How wonderful to see all your stitching of the past sevral months. Your needle sure has been busy. Your latest stitching Tales from the Wood is - as always - fabulous. Thank you for sharing your fabulous work - it is an astonishing amount of stitching and all beautifully brought to life.

That is moving along well
Interesting you stitch over on your rolling frames - I always stitch under It helps keep my work clean and catches the needles when I drop them but I suppose your protector does the same thing.

This is a beautiful update. I agree that the difference in the tones of the Owl and the border images really focus the eye on the owl while providing the "woodsy" environment the owl is in.

It's a beautiful picture
I do wish that I hadn't left my copy of it behind in France!!
Is it still available somewhere?

@ Jo, this is the way taught myself, I realised Aida acts like a magnet when one day I was wearing a Chenille jumper and spent ages picking all the bits of fluff of the fabric. I have tried stitching "in the well", but prefer this way. The grime guards work fine and have the added benefit of being gathered so I park my needles in the gathers. Works for me.
@Wendy, thank you, it's a great design isn't it, it's from Cross Stitch Collection magazine issue 188 if you can find it. I'll have a thinkie in a bit.
@ Carole, thank you, it really does draw the eye.

A beautiful update! And isn't it interesting how we all find our own comfortable way of stitching, and all of them are right and none is wrong ?

Absolutely Mabel, we are all different and thank goodness for that, it would be a strange world if we were all the same although I will admit I am more than teeny tiny bit envious our lovely Lyudmila (please be safe) being able to stitch her gorgeous large projects in hand, I can only manage less than six inch motifs, for cards and the like, in hand.Mabel Figworthy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 3:26 pm And isn't it interesting how we all find our own comfortable way of stitching, and all of them are right and none is wrong ?

Your owl is beautiful.
Agree. I love seeing the differences, and sometimes I try them. If it feels comfortable I sometimes switch how I do it.Mabel Figworthy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 3:26 pm A beautiful update! That is so beautiful. Peaceful. Serene. Considering owls are birds of prey it is amazing how gentle he looks.

Mr Owl is looking great! So much detail in him contrasting with the more muted surrounds.
Re: Garnet's Stitch-a-long Updated 24th March 2022
This looks great! Do you know what kind of owl it is? It looks like a Barn Owl to me.
Re: Garnet's Stitch-a-long Updated 24th March 2022
Thank you, I think it is the graduating colours of the dusk behind the Owl which gives the piece such a peaceful air. You have captured the right word Carole, it is serene.
Thank you, I fell in love with this piece because of the contrast between the muted/sepia tones of the surrounding images and the full colour nature of the Owl.wendywombat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 6:00 pm Mr Owl is looking great! So much detail in him contrasting with the more muted surrounds.
Thank you, yes indeed it is a Barn Owl, I'm rather fond of Owls in general, and a couple of ceramic ones too.
