Dahliadoll’s 2019 CCS Goals/Progress (Final update December 16)

Greetings and Happy New Year!

I didn’t do nearly as much cross stitch as I had hoped/planned in 2018, but that’s probably typical of us cross stitchers. It always takes so much longer than we anticipate.

I’m not going to make my long list of family events and holidays to (hopefully) make CCS cards for, as it just doesn’t seem to happen. Some years I make many, and other years I fall too far behind. I’ll just say that I would like to make as many CCS greeting cards as I can squeeze in and will post pictures as they are completed. So far I've finished two small motifs to make Valentine's Day cards and started on a third.

Another CCS goal is to get a start on some monthly charts that will turn into calendars for three grandchildren. I will give them a calendar board and they can switch out the CCS motifs for each month as they turn the calendar over. I made one for my 9 year old granddaughter a few years ago, and she still seems to enjoy using it. I won’t be gifting the calendars for a couple more years, but I know I need to get started on them.

  • CCS calendar motifs:
    • Sonja (Lesley Teare 2019 Owls SAL)
      Julia (happinessiscrosstitching monthly cats)
Valentin (Rainbow Gallery Joyful World charts)
I would also like to make a small birth record for my grandson who was born on December 26th. Nothing too large.

Sounds like a good plan for 2019! And room for changes if you need to make any additions (or if it was me subtractions) from your goals. Looking forward to watching your progress throughout the year!

I may add that, although I am retired, my cross stitch time is usually in front of the TV in the evenings. I don't do much stitching during the day unless we are at our lake place in the summer. There, I enjoy stitching outside during the day. I do, however, spend much of my day doing other crafts in my studio (sewing, quilting, machine embroidery), and try to have a knitting project at the ready if I'm going to be riding in the car. I also attend many craft events in the area (usually at least one day a week).

They sound like lovely projects and it seems you have your whole year planned in cross stitch :)

I have three Valentine CCS motifs done. I would like to do three more for granddaughters, then they will be made into cards. I'll post pictures when the cards are done. I'm glad to be back into my CCS zone again!

These are Valentines I made from charts in Cross Stitch Gold magazine. I believe they are Lesley Teare's designs. I made one for each of my DDs plus one for a friend.

These are the Valentine cards I made for my grandchildren. The bear with the heart is a Durene Jones chart from 2017; and the owl is from Stickeule. I don't have a record of where I got the bird or the Love charts.

I'm currently working on Lesley Teare's 2019 Owl SAL (haven't finished January yet); and want to start her blackwork anemone SAL which will run over about 12 weeks.

7 cards for Valentine's day! You have been busy. They are all beautifully stitched and unique in their own ways. I love the way you mounted them all, with different backgrounds.

Gorgeous stitching and I love the finishing - are the hearts padded, they look so lovely and plump?

Yes, there is a piece of batting behind each motif. Sometimes I also use batting between the mounting cardstock and the fabric, but I didn't do that this for these.

Thank you for the wonderful praise. I love doing these small motifs for cards.

Fabulous collection of cards! :applesauce: :applesauce:

I have to say that Heart designs do not appeal to me but those are wonderful little cards. 8)

Wow! Those cards are so impressive -- and thoughtful. You certainly don't waste a craft moment, do you? Don't forget we also have to see the quilts and other non-css in the "other crafts" thread, you know.

I have signed up for Lesley Teare's owl SAL, too, though I've not started it yet. (Work gets in the way, sheesh.) So I'll be interested in how you get on.

I'm keeping up fairly well on Lesley Teare's anemone SAL but haven't started her March owl yet. First I had charts to finish for April birthday cards. More information on the charts used is posted on my blog.

I'm currently working on a March cat chart from happinessiscrossstitching.com (2015 SAL); and will start a few charts for Easter cards.
