Thank you Mabel and others!

I use a piece of quilt batting behind the CCS motif and machine stitch it to fabric-covered cardstock. I use a monofilament thread so it is more-or-less invisible.

A couple of wedding cards:

Lesley Teare's Blackwork Anemone SAL … A friend stitched this (the one I did was too large for this project), and I made the tissue box cover.

These are wonderful finishes. Please don't tell me you make your own fabric-covered yardstick...! Ok, then how do you make fabric-covered card stock? A tutorial? :beg:

The way to get familiar with a sewing machine is First to stitch straight lines on a waste piece of fabric.
Next try some angles by leaving the needle in the 'down' position and turning the fabric 90degs.
Lastly try stitching some curved corners.
You have mastered so many new techniques since being here, don't let that machine get the better of you!!

My machine has a 'slow' setting on the foot pedal so it cannot run away with you. Yours may not have this slider on it.

Gradually you will get the hang of it..."slowly, slowly catchee monkey" as they say!
Remember It doesn't bite....unless you put your finger under the needle! It's a machine and will only work when you are at the 'helm'

Ah well.... you may remember (I think I mentioned it here, once or twice :-) ) that the very first time I tried to use DH's sewing machine the pedal malfunctioned and it ran away with a vengeance - we had to stop it by pulling the plug out of the socket
Not a very encouraging start...

Just updating my status but no pictures to show yet. I'm pretty current on the monthly owls (Lesley Teare) and cats (happinessiscrossstitching.com 2015 SAL) and have started a birth sampler for DGS. I need to get going on ideas for Christmas ornaments and see which ones will be CCS.

My CCS time is now being taken up with making yo-yos to make an elephant for DGS for Christmas. I'll be making yo-yos for a few more days.

I've been cross stitching quite a bit but no "finishes" to show for it … until now … just a couple of November birthday cards.

This darling ladybug is the Charles Craft Showcase Huck Ladybug that was available at www.dmc-usa.com.
