Projects, present, past and future - kaliii

Hello!

It seems (after I posted my welcome note) that people are curious about what I've been stitching...
Hope I haven't promised too much with my remark that I love designs that are "not found around the next corner". Veteran stitchers, let me know what you think. I had to search a bit for those pieces I've been stitching, but maybe elsewhere in the world they are very easy to come by and well-known to cross-stitchers.

So, I'm posting a few things so that people get an idea.

Some things that are finalized:

not started yet, but I fell in love with it at first sight:

this is what I've just started, and how it's supposed to look like when it's done:

Very pretty and diverse projects. :applesauce: :applesauce: I’ve not seen those particular ones before. I also like the black and white one you are planning in the future and your Madonna and child will be beautiful and I would think, fun to stitch. How far along on it are you?

Haha! Not far... if I posted a photo, you wouldn't really recognize what it is. I found it on holidays and started it there, but in between came Christmas. It will take me 5-10 years to finish it, I fear.
And thank you for your opinion on those.

They are all so very interesting and different too. I love the Owl one especially and your future project of the trees 'speaks to me' too.
You have certainly taken on a big project with your current one of the Madonna and Child and I hope you will post progress pictures from time to time. :)

Will you stitch something smaller in between whiles or just stick to the 1 in progress?

What a lovely variety of projects! Being Dutch, the blue and white windmills of course appeal to me :-) and your Madonna will be beautiful!

Your past projects are lovely, and your future ones look both challenging and rewarding.

Look forward to seeing progress with them.

Regards,

Richard

I totally agree, Richard. The icon will be very interesting to watch progress.

The trees too.
There are not enough pine trees in Kent. Having grown up in a pine forest in N Germany, I do miss the scent & look of pine trees. I do literally mean growing up in a forest. The patch of 4 houses we had as quarters were completely surrounded by the forest on the edge of the Luneberg Heide (Heathland), and the forest overhung the garden fences on all sides. Open the garden back gate and you could go for miles without encountering anything other than trees and a forest track.

Regards,

Richard.

Squirrel, yes, I do other things in-between. Otherwise I'd go mad. Oh, probably I am mad..., that's why I'm such a cross-stitch addict :)
I stitched one little hand towel for a friend for Christmas, that was one project. I got that ready for the occasion, which was good.
Then I started a tablecloth, bought at ALDIs, but I didn't like the design, and re-designed it. Nooooo... that's not finished yet. Christmas was lots of work, right now I'm repairing a heap of torn cloths, tomorrow I'll have to study Russian, so there's always something to do.
Wasn't really kidding when I estimated 5 to 10 years to finish it. If the forum exists for so long, I can surely at times post a progress pic.

About windmills and pines: I love windmills, though I'm not Dutch, but the windmills found a nice place in a friend's kitchen in East Frisia. Perfect place. Both sides of the border resemble each other so much, even in stitching traditions, it seems (from what I've seen).

Yes, I know the kind of pines you're talking about, Richard. Do you know the Bullensee near Rotenburg/Wümme? I loved to go there with the kids when we lived in the area. Brandenburg is full of them, too, parts of Poland are. They are beautiful, and I hope they will withstand global warming. Also not kidding. Last summer pines near Berlin split in half just because of the heat.

Mother Mary, by the way, is by the Bulgarian designer Stoyanka Ivanova. In 10 years, when I'm done with the icon, I'll do her "Girl rom Kyustendil" - another project in the far future, but on my mind.

What a beautiful design that is and I'm looking forward to seeing it being stitched in 10 years. I have great faith that the forum will be here and celebrating its 20th anniversary. We just passed 10 two years ago!

Sorry, it should have been "Girl from Kyustendil", ahh, typos.
Ok, if you're positive the forum stays alive until then, you'll see the end result. In-between I'll give a little update. I love the glitzy bits on their gowns, too. Looking forward to stitching them. ;)
This is the first day for about a week that I can take an hour or two off in the evening to stitch. So, I wish you all a good night/day, and I'll get going right now.
