And the update is glorious! Hope you'll have time now to carry on with it a bit. :wip:
Where in Scotland do you live? I am on the Isle of Benbecula! And I’ve been learning Gaelic these past months, it is a lot of fun to learn this language!!
Not that far West! I'm not far from Loch Lomond, West Stirlingshire as was. Don't get blown away tonight! It's stormy here; can imagine it's pretty wild where you are.

I came here to say how much I like your picture- a beautiful design and neat cross stitching. And overheard(should I say overread?) about Stirling and Loch Lomond. Was travelling through those places in 2002. I knew Scotland is beautiful, but never knew to what extent. The landscapes were so picturesque, that sometimes I did not turn off my video camera for hours filming the road and what was on its sides. What looked really unusual - were your mountains. They looked like some giant brought them onto a flat glound and then left them there. Our mountains are absolutely different. I even shared my thoughts with a geography teacher, and she confirmed that your mountains do differ from ours (but it was too scientific and complicated for me to remember her explanation now).

What else impressed me- the mountains were so low(forgive me, but as compared with the Alps, for example or even with our Carpathians) but their tops were in clouds. With an enormous rainbow against a dark cloud and those white clouds around the mountains, the scene looked breathtaking. What looked familiar- were the poles which show the deapth of snow(or water?) in some places.
Well, dont let me speak on Scotland here, or moderators will ban me for not stitcking to the cross stitch theme. :D

Lovely to have you posting again and wonderful to see the update on that oh so peaceful scene. You are doing well with it in spite of house moves, redecorating and starting a new job too.

Wow - mention of Bebecula brings back many happy memories for me. Many decades ago during the latter part of WW11 our school class started writing to a class of children in the school at Benbecula. Eventually Margaret married and some years later they moved to Mull - something to do with schooling for their children. Eventually the moved to the mainland to Oban. A few years after he hubby died I visited the UK (2001) and stayed a few days with Margaret which was fabulous. Sadly the weather was not conducive to visiting too far off-shore so I didn't get to see Benebecula - where it all started. She has since passed away too so my link to Scotland has broken.

Perhaps we need to set up a Scotland Appreciation thread? (I suspect we could have many appreciation threads, frankly.) But I'll sneak in a bit of geography: most of our mountains are either extinct volcanos or glacial remains. And they are old. Very, very old, and the further north you go, the older they are. If it hadn't been for plate techtonics, most of the Highlands would be somewhere around Newfoundland, Canada... ! Your Alps and Carpathians are mere teenagers (and beautiful, as all teenagers are).

Excuse ME! I guess between all the forum members who have the pleasure of living in this quirky, beautiful, frustrating, uplifting and generally unusual bit of the British Isles, you certainly DO have new links! Different, but here we are, after all.

And now we return you to your usual Welcome Back thread ! :P

The flowers are finished!
I think they were the hardest part of the project because of having to change colours every couple of stitches and also a lot of counting and having to be careful not to make mistakes etc... but now they are done!

Thank you! Today I work all day and then tomorrow off so I can spend some time doing the leaves around the flowers! I think they will be beautiful with the leaves completing them!

I got started on the leaves already, I don’t care that it’s 11 o’clock at night, I couldn’t resist when I came back home from work!

Oh this is lovely,

I can almost smell the salt air coming in through the window and the pattern really gives the effect of the gauzy curtains moving in the breeze. The flowers are coming along nicely.

Beautiful update :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:
