WIP - Cut Thru' Gypsy Wagon (Bothy Threads) - Finished!!

Post by Slinky »

This is my latest project:

http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/ ... 57250&ww=1

I am doing it for my Aunt as a gift (I am REALLY hoping she doesn't visit here, and if you know who I am about to describe, please don't tell her!!) as she has an old shepherds caravan (very much like a gypsy caravan) on land near her bungalow so she can watch the wildlife. It's so cute, with a real woodstove, and a bed.

I have been looking for something to do for her for ages and this is the perfect thing. Here is my progress to date. Stitched all weekend - it's fiddlier than is looks ... all that top stitching ...

Jilly, there's just SO MUCH backstitching, which I don't much like doing truth be told, so I am doing it as I go. To have to do it all at the end would be too much. Also, I'm finding it helps enormously in giving definition to the stitches. It's quite a complicated piece.

Would love to see your progress on the igloo. Any pictures?

You're definitely right! WOW! :applesauce: Such a detailed one! ...sooooo much backstitches in it! :)

I've just seen this one now...and with all those details and backstitches I can say it reminds me of a Michael Powell design... :)

VERY good idea to do the backstitch as you go along! It's looking great already.

Here's progress so far. It's flippin' fiddly!! I was enjoying the challenge to begin with but I'm finding it a but tiresome now. However, I have discovered it's my Aunt's 60th in January. I was planning to give it to her at Christmas, but I will keep it back til her birthday as that seems much more fitting.
