I use a fine cotton fabric interfacing which is iron on.
I bought mine from Dunelm Mill recently after finding it in Spain many years back.
It's nicer than the Vilene iron-on.
I think you might be able to buy it from Amazon.

By the way, saying that Timtex is like Pellon Peltex tells me absolutely nothing :-) - stiffening like an extra layer of material (iron-on or sew-on), or starch, or a gluey spray, or something else altogether?
It's this. So I just need to figure out how much to order. Oh, and to decide if it will take the place of the buckram (haven't heard that word for ages!) called for in the Willing Hands book. (In which case I'll order more...)

Serinde, I just have to ask before curiosity kills me: what for do you need to stiffen it? What will it be?

Ah, yes, should have made that clear. This Faby Reilly SAL is to become a little four seasons box, with a lid. So the stiffener is a non-fusible sort of wall, I guess, around which the stitched cloth is sewn. It's actually very cunning.

In fact, I'm quite taken by the construction possibilities of design, but I have so much to learn and understand. And I might need to break a long rule of mine, and learn to use a sewing machine -- :faint:

No! No! not the sewing machine! (I've had a few traumatic run-ins with one...)

Yes, you certainly could! I did learn in 7th grade (age 11?), but was unceremoniously hauled out of Home Economics to study a foreign language... as they did in those days. I did manage to make an apron, though. (Blue gingham, of course.)

Here's the completed stitching for the Zoe SAL four seasons box. Yes, part of it is upside down, but don't worry, it all comes out in construction. Faby does like her seqins! Just awaiting the Timtex, then I'll get on to it. In the meantime, I'm finishing a few Christmas cards based on last year's Faby Reilly SAL, Christie.

That looks terribly intricate and complicated!! But the stitching is lovely and I can see an heirloom in the making.

Oooohhhh, the stitching is absolutely beautiful and looks so delicate on the fine linen.

It does look terribly complicated, I'm guessing it comes with full assembly instructions, I hope they are as clear as our Mabel's instructions for her projects.

I hope the Timtex (whatever that is) comes soon as I can't wait to see it all assembled.

I agree with Mabel, definitely an heirloom.

Interestingly, that being absolutely not my "cuppa"(to begin with, I would not see the holes in the fabric even with magnifying glass), this WIP looks so beautiful and I like it to the tiniest detail. Your stitching is perfect, as always. Happy stitching!

Thank you! 32ct fabric requires a magnifying lens (in fact, most fabric does these days, which is why weaving , which doesn't, is so relaxing...). I'm not generally a flower-and-butterfly sort of gal either, but I loved the tree of life, four seasons theme. And her colours; what she can do with a handful of thread colours is remarkable. But I can also confess I was pretty tired of those leaves by the end!
