Too close to edge HELP!

I guess I underestimated the size of my new pattern and I ran into a problem. It'll fit but only JUST barely. I'm thinking I can sew a spare piece of cloth behind the existing hem stitch when I'm ready to frame, but if anyone has any thoughts or experience with this problem id love to have input.

That's what I'd do. Sew a band of 'margin' fabric on the sides that are close to the edge, so when you frame, only the Aida shows.

And next time double check your calculations. :)

Yep, sewing fabric to the edge will allow for framing, but the frame or mat will be very close to the stitching (which is usually not a problem). If you wanted to make it into a wall hanging or pillow, the extra fabric would serve as a border.

I had to do that with an Ink Circles SAL. I hid the extra edge in the fabric I used in the border for the wall hanging.

Motto...count twice ....then add 3 more inches of fabric!! :tizzy:

Hello-

This happened to me on my 1st big stitch. - All I could do was to stitch a piece of fabric on the edge. In my case, the cross stitches went

right up to the edge with no room for a hem. :x Since this was put in a frame to hang, with care it all worked out well.

Good Luck!
