Busy_B's eagle...pic of DH opening

Post by Busy_B »

Okay, after reading about the few of you who are working on presents for your husbands and hiding them, I figured it would be a good time to get working on one I've had for a while. This is The Promise-Bald Eagle. I've had the kit for 7-8 years and worked on it on and off for a couple of years (more off than on) because of other patterns to do for gifts. I don't think I've touched it in almost 6 years. I might have spent a couple of hours on it after my son was born, but that's it. (He will be 6 in Dec.) I am going to try to finish it before Christmas, but will consider myself extremely lucky if half of it is done by then. I'll work on it during the day while he is working and when the kids will give me a little time (and I decide to ignore housework  ).

Here's the finished picture:

Here is what I am starting with (done several years ago):

This is a fantastic design! I love the eagle (like Rose said...it's majestic!) and also love that there's a rainbow in the background!

Thank you every one for the words of encouragement! My hubby knows I have this cross stitch, he just doesn't know that I'm picking it back up again. When I finished my last project (a Christmas stocking for daughter), I asked him if he wanted me to do the eagle, and he asked for the Footprints one instead. I'll definitely post pics often. It's very easy to get bogged down with all of the browns!

Good for you Busy B. It would be a wonderful feeling of accomplishment to finish this. Do you keep journals of your projects? I always keep a card with my current project to note when I started, any new things I've learned while working on it, etc. I also note when I take a break (like on my current project), so that when I pick it up again I can see how long I've left it. The idea is to make me acknowledge that I've been avoiding it. But that's just me.

Oh, and this will be gorgeous when finished.

This is a fantastic project, I love any bird patterns (I love the look of xstitched feathers!) after a few hours you'll probably wonder why you put it down in the first place :D can't wait to watch this one grow!!

hehe I do the same, and add a picture at the end, I love flicking through it every now and then, so I can see how much i've progressed on speed/ability over the years

Carolyn, no, I don't keep a journal. I've never really thought about it. It's a nice idea.

My eldest daughter kept a journal of the time that any piece took to do so that if anyone asked her how much it would cost she would state that it took so many hours to complete. People then know that it will not appear tomorrow and that they are getting it done for only pence not pounds per hour.

The finished piece is 12"x16" (30x41 cm). It's a little bigger than the ones I've been doing recently, but not a whole lot.
