Soft Oil Pastel Painting...

Post by charmagne_capalad »

Hi everyone...here's my other serious hobby...I've been on it since my college days in the 80's... I tend to mix and match colors for added effects...

I've finally uploaded some of my artwork in webshots...

Thanks for looking in. :)

Thanks so much, drrubina. The soft oil pastel smudges easily just like chalk that's why it's so easy to mix the color shades...it's just so messy to do ...your hands will really be covered with the colors...

These are gorgeous!!
I went over them a few times,I like them all, but I think if I had to pick favourites it would be 919 and 918.

You are very talented, I would love to be able to do something like this.

Well done!!

Beautiful colors. The strong and the soft just make a wonderful combination. Great job.

These are really lovely Charmagne - that's a great talent to have. I know what you mean about messy though. My daughter used soft oil pastels for her final piece in her recent GCSE Art exam. She decided to practise on her bedroom floor and ended up with pastel smudged everywhere - I was not best pleased!!

Thanks so much everyone...Your comments are all lovely...I haven't framed anything yet but I keep them safe in my sketch book inside one of my organizer boxes. I just sprayed some fixative on them to keep the colors intact.

Thanks again...it's great sharing some things with all of you...I feel very happy! :D

Lots of care to everyone!

Hi, Angel! :) ....they are really like chalk and easily smudges...just be patient with it and try to control your strokes...you'll find that it's so easy to blend for shading effects...you can use cotton balls for it...(((would love to see your trial work)))) :) ....and i would love to give you a hand when you need it

...I would love to say "thank you" for trying it! Take care!

This is my first and only attempt at it, which is very depressing as the supplies were very expensive:

Hehe apparently I put this online exactly a year and a day ago :P The colour went everywhere! And I don't think my attempt at fur worked. Poor Kelmitsu.
