Lesley Teare ~ Birthday Fairies - SAL

Post by DahliaDoll »

If you are doing these monthly fairy charts offered by Lesley Teare, would you like to join me in a SAL? I've already done January-April. They are small charts and wouldn't take long to catch up or just jump in wherever you are.

I'll post links to the charts so far (January-May) below. I'm doing them individually and plan to make a calendar upon which the fairies can be changed each month. This will be a gift for DGD in 2016, and I plan to send her a new fairy for her calendar each month. She lives quite far away, so I like to send her something often.

Hope you will join me and share your idea for these fairies. They would make cute BD cards or a wall hanging with all of them.

Here are the links:

Here's what I've done so far ...

I changed the dress and hair colors on the April fairy with Lesley Teare's permission. Recently I read that some designers do not like the colors to be changed.
I've got the May chart kitted up and ready to stitch as soon as I finish my current WIP.

I haven't heard of her before, but she has some really nice designs! And I downloaded the fairies to date - if I can plow through what I have going, and get started on a couple others, maybe I can fit these little ones in. Hmmm....what to do, what to do....

These are so cute and beautifully stitched . Lesley Teare does some great designs doesn't she. What are you going to do with them when they are all done? They would look lovely set in fabric made into a quilt top for a little (or big) girl's room. :D

Please forgive my ignorance, but what does DGD stand for? I have checked out 'abberviations.com' to be given a list that doesn't seem to fit:
  1. Dworkin's Generic Driver (x2)
  2. Dance Gavin Dance
  3. Debt Going Down
  4. Duplicated Genes Database
And a number more similar in the top 10.

Richard

I'm fairly sure it's Dear GrandDaughter :)

Great fairies! I didn't know that about designers, I wonder if they're all like that about changing colours or only a few. I can't join the SAL, but I can cheer you on.

Sorry, Richard, I thought I had answered your question earlier. I guess I forgot to "submit". Dear GrandDaughter is absolutely correct.

Thanks tiffstitch. I didn't know that about designers' sensitivity either until I read it somewhere. For the simple charts I do, the designers probably don't care about changing colors. But since I had heard about it and could contact the designer, I thought I may as well. Don't know what I would have done if she had said no, but she was quite accommodating in having people personalize them.

These are adorable, and I love your idea of sending one per month. I bet she's going to love getting personal mail with such a lovely gift inside!

I love these! I'm downloading them, but can't start them yet, so for now I'll stitch them vicariously through you, if you don't mind. :-)

August is ready. I can't wait to get started, but DGD is coming on the 1st through 10th, so I might have to wait till she leaves before working on it.
