But as I promised, here's my other crafts thread with my caligraphy. First up with have Chinese and Latin for my personal creed (To bellieve is to see)

Next we have some Japanese (translated into English) I didn't do this writing though. I was feeling lazy and got the computer to tag the English on the end.

As I said, nothing really special or astounding. Just me making some banners for some threads on other sites, where I draw peoples avatars.

Please remember that these are done with art pens and not brushes so they're not really that good.

They certainly look good to me!
I bet there aren't many of us here who would be able to do such a thing with pens or anything. It's a special type of art, I think, and requires a special talent! Well done. :applesauce: :applesauce:

I think Chinese and Japanese calligraphy is a lot easier than English Calligraphy. But then the English alphabet is actually one of the hardest to write in the world because of all the squiggles and circles whereas chinese and japanese is mainly straight lines and some with a slight curve. Which makes it ever so easy. With a brush it's great because as you can see the lines are thick at one end and thin at the other. Which is so easy to do with a soft brush and ink...Unfortunatly soft brushes ruin very easily...

Thank you ^_^ I think I like the look and sound of Japanese better than Chinese. But I love the Chinese culture. Which is why I randomly learned a few symbols in each.

Fire is very pretty.

The only calligraphy I've never been able to do is Egyptian :P

They're such interesting letter shapes -- have you ever used a brush for them? A friend of mine who teaches in China got me a Chinese calligraphy set but I'm ashamed to admit I haven't tried it yet; I think I'm too hooked on the Western variety and I just love gilding :-).
If you are doing a lot of this and haven't got a set, perhaps you'd like to borrow mine for as long as you need it?

I don't do it often. I used to do it with brushes when I was younger. But I lost all faith in art and stopped doing it. Now I don't know what's happened but I no longer do them for much. Same with all art really. I used to draw just for the sake of it, now I only do it when there's a reason to.

Oh that's really sweet of you!
