 Love your colour scheme Mabel and how lovely and rich that purple is - I feel like stroking it - as in velvet. A great update. :)

The silks are Gloriana and Belle Soie, which are virtually identical, and sooooo soft - I have actually been stroking the petals quite a bit!

That's nice. You're showing real skill in the design & production of it.
Wish I had time to learn the stitching skill too.

Richard

Thanks Richard; the skill, such as it is, has been mostly acquired by doing it, and getting it wrong :-) , and then doing some more and getting it right.

The design is Kelly Fletcher's, so only the interpretation is mine. She designed her freebies, as far as I know, to be good learning pieces, with simple stitches that are mostly (though not all) outlines. This goes to show how versatile needlework is - once you've got a design, you can do pretty much anything with it, and that goes for cross stitch as much as anything else - you can change colours, leave elements out, recombine elements, use backstitch or not, personalise designs with dates or names, add beads and bling...

Anyway, just as a comparison, here are the two side by side:

Wendy, basically you start with a lazy daisy, then come up a bit further down the line, take your needle behind the lazy daisy and go back down the same hole. Repeat ad infinitum or until you come to the end of your line :-)

Not much stitching at the moment as I've been working on kit instructions and diagrams, but I did make some progress with this. The pink petal is outlined with a thread I bought recently and wanted to try out :-)

Such even stitching! :applesauce: That fine gold thread really looks good against the 'chunkier' threads. :applesauce:
