HAED Dusty Rose update 10th June 2014

Post by amethyst1312 »

Hello everyone.

My name is Rachelle, and I've been lurking on the forums for a little while looking at all your great pics, and I thought it was time to say hello and share what I'm working on.

I started a Heaven and Earth Designs chart last week, called Dusty Rose.

This is my progress. Her hair has a huge amount of confetti in it, there’s so many different colours that make up the black hair, it’s astounding. I was stitching with blues, greys, purples, pinks, and of course black, and I think the effect is great. I also love her eye make-up, it blends really well. Her face is made up of one colour DMC 3865, which is an off white shade. It was pretty challenging to prevent the thread from becoming unclean, and little fibres would appear which I’ve been having to tweeze out carefully. I’m just hoping I can keep it clean whilst I stitch the rest of the design.

So far, I’m loving the design, it’s challenging as it’s mostly confetti and single stitches, but heaps of fun to see come to life. I can’t wait to see more of her appear over the coming months. I hope you all like her. It's really nice to find a forum to share my cross stitch progress with, and I can't wait to get chatting to all of you.

Rachelle x

That is a very nice design, and is coming on well.

I have yet to nerve myself up to something like a HAED (it's very courageous of you) - do want to finish my current one off before I start anything else.

Best of luck.

 Hello Rachelle! and welcome to the forum from South Carolina. I love the way you spell your name. It is the first time I've seen that particular spelling and I think it's really pretty.

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: What a beautiful start you have made. Dusty Rose is a lovely design and I am sure it will be a lot of fun to stitch. I love the colors and the detail you have already stitched. I would have thought her face would have more colors than the one DMC you mentioned because it has a lot of depth. I imagine it is the detail of the eyes and eye makeup which gives it that depth. What fabric are you using? I'm always curious because I have HAEDs on all different fabrics and counts and full crosses and tent stitches. I am looking forward to more updates on this piece. Is this your first HAED design? or just your first post? If both, I hope it will be the first of many projects that you will share with us.

Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome :D

I'm stitching on 20 count Bellana evenweave with 2 threads. I've dabbled in trying to stitch a HAED before but have never gotten very far with one, and so I took a break, and now I'm trying again. I tried to stitch other types of designs; Mirabilias etc but they never meant as much to me as trying to stitch a HAED.

Little update today, I finished my first half page!

Looks lovely! And look at that nice neat rectangle. I am the total opposite, I color outside the lines and can NOT stitch in such a neat grid, even though I park!
