Serinde's Gothic Splendour Framed!

This is a design stitched entirely with blended threads on a dark charcoal fabric. There are actually very few symbols in the design -- a two reds, a green, three blues, 2 lights, etc. Even the white outline is actually blended. The secret is the blended threads consist of one solid and one variegated. This means the reads sometimes look a bit orangey, and there's occasionally a bit of lavender in the blue... and the white isn't flat. It also looks more "shiny" than my poor camera on my phone can show you.

The designer is Mary Hickmott, by the way.

That is really different. I love the idea of the variegated with a regular strand. No two of these stitched would be exactly the same, so cool! Yours is looking great. :applesauce:

:applesauce: :applesauce: Beautiful design! I love the fact that this will be a unique piece, as marniecat said. Everytime it is stitched it will be slightly different from the last time. It is splendid!

Those blends work beautifully and seeing how stunning it is even incomplete I can only guess how overwhelming it must be when finished!

What a lovely piece! I love the idea of blending a variagated with a solid to get a unique effect. I've not done it in needlework but I've used that technique a fair bit in knitting and even sorta used it when spinning my own yarns, and it always has great results!
