Computer woes Update Oct 18th

Post by mauveme »

It died, and I am gutted. :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: . At least I have the old laptop by brother gave me, but I had to up load firefox to get on here and face book, my old computer had no room for firefox.
Hate using the laptop keyboard, not used to the configuration and size, hurts my hands.
But at least I have something.
Have to figure out how to get it hooked to my internet server, just using a free one which is random at best.

:( You have my sympathy, its happened to me twice. Thankfully both times help was at hand with spare parts to get me up and running again albeit not with programmes I am familiar with.

Hope something can be sorted out soon for you. :shamrock:

 how frustrating! I hope you can get back up and running how you prefer soon. We're still using a laptop after moving which is partly why I'm not on here as much. I share your annoyance with laptop keyboards. good luck

:tantrum: is how I feel when my computer is down for any reason. I am so ridiculously dependent on it. I hope you get things adjusted to your liking with the laptop.

Well, IE keeps freezing up when I try to access on here. and Firefox won't let me Cut copy and paste :tantrum:
Can't play games on firefox (through facebook) 'cause flash player won't update on firefox :tantrum: and those games won't work on IE. And the tool bars on firefox suck,All in all a little frustrating
But at least I have something, :D

The problem is the arthritis in my hands, the keyboard is just too small and set too far back, Can,t use my keyboard, the only USB port has my mouse plugged in as the scroll thing on the laptop doesn't work. However, my dear brother says he has an extra computer he will give my, only problem is he is in Ottawa and I am in Hamilton but he says he will get it to me somehow, which is great cause the laptop is freezing up all the time too.

Oh dear. I do hope you get something sorted out soon. It's ridiculous how dependent on the things we get, isn't it.

I keep my laptop on some books on my desk and use a separate USB keyboard and mouse with it. That saves me pain in my neck from looking down all the time and the keyboard and mouse are easier to use. I can have them in a better position than using the laptop. The screen is too close and low if I use the laptop keyboard.

You can get a hub to plug into a USB port on your keyboard and that will take the mouse, keyboard and whatever else you want to plug in, dependent on what you buy. Mine has seven spaces (because that was best value on the day) but they do various sizes.

Oh, my hubby has books under the screen for his desktop and finds it more comfortable. Apparently the top of the screen should be at eye level for most comfortable use.

I hope this will make life easier for some others of you.

I plugged my laptop in the other day and heard a buzzing coming from the charger...yea it fried and of course the battery was dead. Mine is a basic laptop the hubby uses the bigger faster one so I can use that one but will be purchasing a cord soon. Sizzling is never a good sound with electronics.

My brother came through, mailed the tower out yesterday and got it this morning. using it now. It's so much faster too. so happy
Sent me a wireless mouse too, love it, no cord to annoy me...And the mother of all keyboards, "ergonomic" and bloody friggen HUGE, takes up way too much room and really hard to use too so it's in a box....
