Re: Australasia Bingo-with some additions. Day 13 Up Now
Well now here we are again on a most interesting night. Wonder if its Bingo tonight? Not marked my master sheet yet but I know that 1 of the numbers several people have. So here are the most important numbers you need
# 21 and # 30
Here is # 21 the White Parakeets.
The White parakeets in the tree at the back of my garage in Melbourne. It was beautiful to see whole trees covered in white birds, except for the noise of course. My most memorable sighting was a huge dark green fir tree with dozens of them all over it. - so beautiful.
Here he is - my favourite little animal. # 30
I have always loved squirels and on a visit to the US many years ago friends would call out "there's a Squirrel Sally" and as I was looking for a small dog sized animal I just didn't see him. About 8 yrs ago I was in the UK staying with friends in Bournemouth and Ursi came rushing upstairs and whispered to "look out the window slowly" so I did. A little squirrel had come over the fence and was rushing across their lawn up a tree and over to a neighbours where there was a bird feeder. Wow a Squirrel finally.
Then a trip to some gardens near the sea front and there were dozens of these little fellows rushing around. That is where this photo was taken.
I think all stitchers and knitters and craft people in general are squirrels, we keep stash on hand for "that rainy day" don't we- which is why I use him in my avatar.
So there it is folks tonights 2 numbers. Hope there is a Bingo amongst them soo be quick and PM me.

What a neat story about how you became "Squirrel". And I can't even imagine whole trees full of parakeets. Out here that only seems to happen with crows, noisy and certainly not as attractive.
Hope someone wins today!

Re: Australasia Bingo-with some additions.BINGO !!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats verajane!!!
Thank you for the lovely bingo, Squirrel Sally! I loved your squirrel story and all of the other stories and info that went with your pictures and picks. I'm sorry I wasn't as active this round, as I had an incredibly busy (and not so nice) week.
It's a fairly serious goal of mine to visit New Zealand within the next few years, as it's so similar to the PNW in many ways. Plus, I know they're light on zoologists, so getting work would likely not be difficult. Anyway, I have a couple of online friends in NZ, plus you are there in Australia...so hopefully if I make it, I'll work in a bit of a swing-by to say hello.

Re: Australasia Bingo-with some additions.BINGO !!!!!!!!!!!
OK here are the remaining 4 numbers. 3, 17, 22and 28
# 3 Lyttelton Harbour.
[As well as being the crater late of a long dormant volcano, Lyttelton is our main port for the South Island - and a very busy one it is too. There is a small town and housing above the Harbour, and in many of the bays surrounding the harbour.
# 17 The NZ Christmas Tree, the Pohutukawa
URL=http://s1095.photobucket.com/user/Squir ... 4.jpg.html]
URL=http://s1095.photobucket.com/user/Squir ... 6.jpg.html]
This tree is a glorious sight around the countryside at Christmas time and through most of January. There are a lot of them over at Akaroa and great to see during out many trips over the summer school holidays.
As you might guess the 2nd picture is of the flower and it is fairly true to colour too.
# 22 The Wild flowers of W Australia at Perth
The top pic you have seen before with the Kangaroo paw plant and they are all wildflowers that clothe the desert during September and October. Our soil is most red and WA is very dry for much of the year so seeing the wildflowers covering the countryside for miles is a sight to see.
The lower one is further around the wild flower gardens at Kings Park in Perth. The water you see in the background is a huge river estuary of the Swan and (?) Conway Rivers.
#28 the Cane Toad
Ugly brute that it is. It was brought in to get rid of something else which was attacking the sugar cane fields and is now a pest itself.
We have them all over our lawns and one doesn't walk outside at night without a torch so you know wherer to put your feet!!!!!!
and there you have the lot.
Again congratulations to our winner StitchingEs , and our runners up Verjane and Jocellagirl.

Carole if I had the money I would be on the next plane - you have squirrels in your backyard?How awesome. Definitely not fair.
wonder what would happen if I brought a pair back and started a colony here???
Sorry, a bit nutty this morning - the family arrive home in about an hour and they can have their dddddddd dogs back with pleasure.
Thanks for all the kind words. I have enjoyed sharing a smidgen of the joys to be had in NZ and Aus.

I don't mean to sound like a nasty person. Definitely not but the squirrels we have here are not native to this area and the nasty buggers killed off the beautiful native brown squirrels
We have a saying here that squirrels are just rats with better PR.
