Hummingbird by Mill Hill *Finished 8-20

Post by calico »

Oh my, another new start for me
I received this Mill Hill beaded kit from my son last Christmas and I decided to start it yesterday to celebrate the fact that I FINALLY had a Hummingbird visit my yard! I posted about it in another thread with photos :D

Here's my start:

The Hummingbird is not entirely made up of beads but there's enough to give it a good sparkle

You are so funny Karen....drool is NOT good for the keyboard! I will be more than happy to send you the chart when I'm done so you can use up some of those beads. I really wish I would have stitched this on fabric rather than the paper. It's ok but I just enjoy the feel of stitching on fabric more. I suppose the paper will be much easier to frame and my LNS sells the Mill Hill frames.

LOL on the drool--I'm so sure you are right about that!! As for the chart, I'd love it when you are done---may either stitch on fabric or plastic canvas---I'm not keen on doing the perforated paper. Thank you for the offer! Can't wait to see it finished. The frames are so nice--think 123 stitch sells them too.

I'll be sure and check there. My LNS is quite a drive so online shopping is way more convenient! I'll just send this chart off to you along with the Blue Jays as I'm working on them simultaneously and should finish them up close to the same time.:D

I love this and can't wait to see it completed and beaded.

Where do you get the frames locally? I'm still searching for a shop up here.

There's a shop that would really be a drive for you as it's in the south Denver area called the Stitching Shop http://www.stitchingshop.com/contact-us/" target="_blank
Christine is the owner and she specializes in Brazilian Embroidery but is converting her shop to a full service needlework shop. Tons of floss, patterns, fabric andshe carries lots of Mill Hill kits and frames. Her website is still a work in progress but she is the nicest lady and will special order anything for you.

My mom was a hummingbird nut. She lived in a mobile home where the kitchen was at one end. It was surrounded by windows and I had to hang 3 hummingbird feeders.
When visiting, it was a mad house around those kitchen windows. There were dozens and dozens of fighting hummingbirds trying to control the feeders, all summer long.
I've never seen anything like it before.

Having tea with mom in the afternoons and watching hummingbirds was a very relaxing endeavor.
