Joan Elliott's Trick or Treat - done 22 Sep!

Post by msufly »

As I said in my post on the General board - it's so good to be back here & back into my stitching! My daughter turns 1 yr old tomorrow and I finally have some time to stitch, even if it's only an hr a day.

So, while I wait for the PTP sale this week, I'm working on a Design Works kit I found at Hobby Lobby of Joan Elliott's Trick or Treat. I love her designs and this is the first Halloween design I've seen of hers so I bought it to keep me busy for the moment.

Here's the design:
Image

And my progress so far...I like to backstitch as I move along instead of all at the end:
Image
(The shadow of my hands & camera makes the fabric look funny but it's white 14 ct aida. )This is my first SUCCESSFUL attempt at making French knots. I know his eyes aren't the same size but that's ok - I figure it gives him character.

:applesauce: :applesauce: Great start on an adorable design. That is one of the best Halloween designs I've seen. Glad you are able to get an hour or so a day for stitching. This is something your daughter is going to love one day soon.

:D I always save faces till last so they aren't staring at me. The faces and French knots do give them character.

It's been awhile since I updated but I put this project aside to stitch Autumn Harvest (in JCS Halloween SAL) and to organize the huge amount of floss I scored on eBay.

So here's where I'm at! The camera flash made everything too bright but you get the point:
Image
There's going to be some Kreinik gold on her sleeves & other spots in the pattern but I'll save that for last since I've never worked with it before.
