I hope you will find here some interesting and/or instructive sites today, too. And please, don't forget to write about the projects you have done in any of these areas, pictures wellcome!

tatting

Did you know that there are two types? I didn't.

Shuttle tatting:
http://www15.brinkster.com/lyricalarmy/lace/lace.htm
http://www.e.n.e.btinternet.co.uk/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_JGTCju4G8 a demo video – but not a very good quality – you can hardly see the thread
http://www.wcnet.org/~scwheels/

needle tatting:
http://www.hhtatting.com/learn.html

http://www.victoriana.com/Embroidery/tatting.htm - about the history of tatting
and another e-book from Gutenberg Project, which includes tatting, among many other topics:
http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/15147

doll making

http://egyhazaban.extra.hu/
http://www.babamuzeum.mool.hu/index_eng.htm - these two sites show beautiful Hungarian dolls, in traditional costumes.

Some instructions, ideas:
http://www.craftsitedirectory.com/dollmaking/index.html
http://www.truveo.com/Primitive-Folk-Ar ... /741614298 - video instructions for making a small, very cute doll
http://farstrider.net/Japan/Festivals/H ... /index.htm - Japanese doll festival
http://www.vam.ac.uk/moc/collections/dolls/index.html - Victoria and Albert Museum – doll collection

and finally: ribbon embroidery

http://www.worldmags.com/magazine/page. ... 511&step=4 - instructions
http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/alb ... 3227CFItcD - a collection of photos
http://www.emsheart.com/merchandise/ite ... oidery.htm (I don't mean to advertise anything, simply liked this beautiful pattern)

Some very interesting links, thanks Agi.

Tatting
As I am not now able to do crochet (hand power) I did buy a shuttle to try my hand at tatting and I just could not get the hang of it at all. I think it was because the action is directly opposite to how you do crochet. I would be interested if other crochet-ers have tried it.

Doll making
have saved one or two sites in my bookmarks.

Ribbon embroidery
Some beautiful examples there.

Those sites are really interesting to look through. I did not know that there were 2 different ways to do tatting. Very informative.

Doll making does this count?

I have done a few others but not all of them are in my Webshots. I have pictures but have not loaded them on to my computer.

The ribbon embriodery is beautiful. I have thought of trying it but how many crafts can you really do I have enough for me right now. But it is fun to look at them and see what others can do.

weaving

http://www.culturalexpeditions.com/hist ... tiles.html http://www.weavingartmuseum.org/main.html http://www.fabcreations.co.nz/

I used to do a lot of weaving myself, I have a loom, but not here in the flat, so haven't used it for a while. Hopefully will be able to in the new flat. When I can have all my boxes moved over, I will take some photos of the things I weaved. Although most of them were given away.

The beading and Batik links are really making me long to get stuck in to new things.
I think this thread should become a sticky, there is so much to read, so little time.
Thank you Agi :D

Yes, I know what you mean - I learnt a lot when I was putting the list together. But I have had an interest in all these since I was a girl... just never had the time to do things. Sometimes I wonder, perhaps I should have chosen a career in these fields... Wishful thinking. :? Anyway, I love teaching, so there is no regret there.

Now, the sites I found for you for today:

Well, today's lot is an int6eresting selection: one widely known art, knitting, one exotic and beautiful one, yarn balls, and one which is almost unknown.

so:

knitting

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6ZjMWLqJvM my favourite youtube video!
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/27/arts/ ... ref=slogin
http://www.pictureknitting.com/index.html

yarn balls

http://members.aol.com/ssummer/Page1.html
http://www.temarikai.com/
http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_beads/artic ... 71,00.html

this is something entirely different, but cute:

triangle point

When I was choosing the entries for the bingo, I used (among others) Wikipedia – which has an article about triangle point. I got interested, included it, and decided to look for more information later. As it appeared, there isn’t much more about it – at least I couldn’t find much… - I have fallen into my own trap, as we would say. If anyone has more info, can you please, post?

I am looking forward to your knitting pictures - you can see one of my "masterpieces" in my avatar
I used to knit a lot when I was younger, at the university it was one exam - one pullover, because I love knitting while reading. It didn't do good to my note-taking, though.
Then, when my daughter went to kindergarden, she had a new pullover/scarf/hat every week - once she told her teachers what she had heard from my mother: "Of course, I have another new pullover again, because my mum has golden hands".

yarn painting

I tried to find a site which describes how to do this – it seems quite simple, it is even taught for pre-school children, so there are a hundreds of sites – this is one example: http://www.crayola.com/crafts/detail/me ... ard-craft/

And some of the original, Mexican art:
http://www.mexconnect.com/mex_/huichol/huicholart.html
http://128.32.250.47:8080/folkartandlit/2006/05/17

But there are not only Mexican yarn paintings:

appliqué

there were so many different sites from different cultures – it was hard to choose

http://www.molaartandcraft.com/mbr_bio.php

And finally, I found some sites which are wonderful sources for many-many different forms of textile art:

http://www.athm.org/exhibitions_generations.htm mindenféle - nagyon jó!!!

http://www.museocaprai.it/en/index.htm

Thank you all for taking part in the game, for looking at the links and posting your pictures. It was great fun, wasn't it?
