Thank you everyone for your lovely comments and encouragement. I really enjoyed getting back to this one. Am working on O Kitten Tree now and will post an update when I get the next page done (maybe a half page if I need a push).
Squirrel wrote:ummm BTW did you put a lock on the door of the distractions too? Just curious
That door is closed, but not really locked. But not spending nearly as much time on those jigsaw puzzles. Laverne of course is the main distraction. She's getting older and we now have 3 trips a week to the vet to get her subcutaneous fluids. Considering that she was pretty unhappy with twice a week, she's not a happy kitty. But her BP is high (pill a day for that one - not too bad) and her kidney function was a bit higher. Other than that, she is okay, but gonna be 19 next month, which is getting up there for a feline. So when she climbs onto my chest, I do put the stitching down and do a puzzle for a while. Then back to my lap or her favorite basket and then back to my stitching!

Sending a gentle ear scratch to Miss Lavern and I hope she keeps going for quite a long time yet. My oldest cat was 18yrs and 7 mths, I saw him born so know exactly when he arrived. :)

It is hard when our furry/hairy friends get older. Both DD dogs are almost 13 years and visits to the vets are frequent. Thank the Lord for good vets.

Tuppy has just come in demanding attention so an ear scratch to Miss Lavern from him too.

Good luck with Laverne reaching 19.
Our old Albert (my avatar) was between 19 & 21 when he died - we don't really know, we had him for 14 years and the vet reckoned he was between 5 & 7 when he adopted my wife. Makes a reasonable age, and is the minimum figure we're aiming for with all our cats.
When that old cats need a lot of attention and love, and it's very hard not to give it. It is remarkable how cats live much longer than average mammals for their size, as shown in the plot below:
Image
Must admit I'd like them to live longer still...

Richard.

Well, I thought it was even longer than 4 mts since my last update. I am still loving this, but am going to switch back to O Kitten Tree for a while since it has bright colors which will be a good change.

Laverne still helps me which is one reason I think I've gotten a bit slower. She now likes to sit on my chest, especially when I'm stitching. She turned 19 in January so I accommodate her even more (if that is possible?) than I had before. Much of my stitching is done on the days she gets subcutaneous fluids (3x/week) because I have to give her a 1/4 of a cat tranquilizer before we go. Without it, it takes about 5 techs to hold her down for the 5 minutes it takes to administer the fluids. With a tranq, just me and one tech. All 6 lbs of her has an amazing amount of force

She seems to like this project especially, giving it very close attention.

Page 15 is completed!! I am almost 1/2 way through :whoop:

Of course Miss Lavern's 'help' is the reason why so much of this gorgeous design is already beautifully stitched. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Tuppy send her a loud purrrrrrrr and a gentle ear rub. :)

Love it, live it.
Before too long you'll be on to the main focus, the cat...

Love Laverne. You must trust her a lot to permit her to sit on the work like that. Much more than we trust our fleabags.

Regards,

Richard.

Thank you all for your generous comments.

Richard, its not a matter of trusting Laverne. Every time I took her off the piece, she was back on it before I could even get the phone/camera into position to take a photo. She surprises me with her agility sometimes. Interestingly enough, once I took the picture with her she went to get a snack. Might have been coincidental? Then again, she is feline

Re: HAED:Dancing with the Cat :update 3/20/2021

It has been almost exactly 2 years since I posted any progress on this project. I think I may have done a few stitches here and there, finishing the arm, but that was between samplers and a few other projects and a long vacation last year by my stitchy bug I have avoided most of my HAED projects. I picked this one up again, the day after I almost finished the Elephant Sampler and have been at it at least several hours a day since then. It's hard to see the progress, but I am not going to be waiting for new page finishes to make a progress post. I realize how important it is to me to get y'all's feedback and encouragement. So either weekly or bi weekly I hope to continue to update this. When I need relief I'll take time for something else, but right now I've gotten motivated and am enjoying that feeling.

This is how she looked when I last posted:
Image

This is how she looks now:
Image

Most of the stitching has been on the skirt in pale colors so it is hard to see the progress. I feel like I should take a picture of the chart where the stitched sections are highlighted to prove I've actually been stitching.

Thanks for looking.
