I'm doing this particular picture, but through a Dimensions Kit called "Woodland Enchantress" I have most of it done and shes sitting right now because she refuses to speak to me.

As I am still a beginner in cross stitching and wondering if cross country or the parking method works best, how do you keep all those loose threads from interfering with the thread you are currently using?

I usually have them wrapped in a figure-of-eight around a needle put vertically through the fabric in the 10x10 square underneath (Yes, that usually means 8 or so needles...). I've just come down to this page (beneath the tree), so haven't really gotten organised. Mostly because when I last visited this square some time ago, I was more or less stitching cross country -- a mistake on this particular project.

Close-up pictures are great for picking up unevennesses and exaggerating them - can you see the bumpiness as much when actually looking at the work from a realistic distance? And as you say, washing and blocking is bound to get all the stitches to snuggle down together smoothly.

Lovely design and beautifully worked. As others have said any irregularities will not bee seen once it's framed and you're not looking at it from 2 inches away.

I'm another one who has Woodland Enchantress on the go somewhere. But yours id so much more detailed and the colours are much more beautiful it makes me wish I had your version. Do you have a picture of the finished design at all.

A question for all you HAED cases: I'm using Kreinik 32 very fine braid, as per the instructions, and I think it is causing my fabric to pull in because it is thicker than two strands of floss. This design sometimes has several rows of it, and I have noticed that the fabric threads beneath has bunched up, making holes very difficult to see and count. I'm having to push the stitches UP vertically with my needle! Anyone else have this problem?

I haven't had this problem but the times that I have had the Kreinik thin braid has been on 25 ct lugana, not on linen. The pieces I have done on 28 ct have been pretty much tent stitching and I don't think those have used the braid. I haven't done an HAED on linen and I also think I have always stitched 2 over 2 on linen so I am even less help. Sometimes instead of using the braid I have used one strand of floss and one strand of blending filament. That isn't as bulky so might be easier although the sparkly bling is much more subtle.

I'm going to try something... I'll continue with the Kreinik vf braid, but as a half stitch only, going from top left to bottom right (\) to fit in with the top stitches of the other cross-stitches. Stitching 2 over 1 on 25ct means the stitches are so small anyway, I doubt anyone will notice and I'm hoping that this solution will cure the distortion. We'll see!
