Ok. Following on my other thread can you recommendsome patterns I could put on a blanket. I've found stony creeks baby animals series and a couple of alphabet but nothing that has really inspired me.

The patterns need to be unisex but otherwise am open to ideas. Thanks in advance :-)

Animals and birds, disney characters, toys (ball, abc bricks. teddies, dolls, cars, prams etc), foody things including plate, cup, spoon etc, and of course the good old alphabet.

When you have decided let me know and I will see if I can help out with any charts.

i always liked Teddy Bears or Nursery Rhyme Characters for children. Some of the Alphabet samplers with themes of toys make pretty baby afghans also. You could do them in yellow or green so that they are not gender specific.

I was at the library yesterday looking for alphabets for a bookmark. But they had a large section of books on baby patterns. Probably 20 or so books specifically with baby and kid designs. Different sizes, alphabets, etc. Check your library for books.. and even if you don't like the designs specifically, it can give you ideas on narrowing down your search. If you are collecting patterns from different sources, make sure the scale of your patterns is similar.

The manufacturer of the afgan you buy will probably have patterns. Charles Craft has a few and Zweigart has a bunch. (although I think the Zweigart website is terrible to search through)

If you live in the UK Argos are selling 3 different afghans for £25 each instead of £50 :D

Well mine's not specifically baby-orientated, but it will (hopefully) be for a baby (I'm totally jinxing myself by saying that). I'm doing an ABC on a vintage design, but you could use any ABC pattern. My afghan is a 28 square, so I left two corners empty for names, dates and maybe a flower or something. I'm in the home-stretch now! Letter S is currently being worked on!

 Hi pokiemon and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! I agree with Gabrielle that you could find an alphabet that you like and use it. I did one years ago using a Precious Moments alphabet. Any children's theme would work also. I did from a book that had charts of teddy bears doing a child's day of activities, from waking up to going to bed at night. There are a lot of different afghan fabrics to choose from also. I personally like Charles Craft alphabet afghan fabric (also comes in baby afghan size). Lady Anne and Lady Elizabeth afghan fabrics are also very popular. Hope you find what you are looking for and will stay with us as you stitch.
