Crazy January Challenge 2011

Post by kell »

I wondered if anyone else was taking part in (or was interested in taking part in) this challenge?

From the mind of Minna - Introducing the Crazy January Challenge of 2011.

The rules are simple:
1. Start stitching a new design every day, from January 1st to January 15th. So by January 15th you have 15 new WIPs to stitch!
2. Try and finish everything you started stitching during the year 2011 :)
3. Show photos in your blog if you have one, in January and during the whole year while you stitch, as we all love to see photos!
4. If you wish to join, leave a comment with your blog address into this post and Minna will add your name to the list.
5. Have fun stitching!

I’m actually going to use this as an excuse to start 15 pieces which I designed myself, so I can display them as models on my Kincavel Krosses design blog. Perhaps that’s a little narcissistic of me, but as I designed each of my own charts for my own pleasure, and wouldn’t post them for public use if I didn’t like them myself, this is the perfect prompt for me to actually stitch some of the ones I’d like to have around my own home.

My choices:

1. Snowflake Bookmark
2. Ho Ho Ho Christmas Assisi Sampler
3. Oh, Christmas Tree!
4. Welcome Sampler
5. Bog Off Subversive Sampler
6. Winter Quaker Bookmark
7. Quaker Cushion
8. Quoth the raven…
9. Hot Chocolate – Liquid Heaven
10. Tea For 2
11. Thanks a Latte
12. Espresso Yourself
13. I Can Resist Everything Except Temptation
14. Quaker Bookmark
15. Bibliophile Blackwork Bookmark

Anyone else up for this insane challenge?

 Oh wow I'd love to do this, because I wanted to make a stock of cards this year. Unfortunately my stash isn't ready for a January start :(.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing your updates as you do the challenge though Kell!

I don't think it's Narcisistic at all.. I think if you're designing patterns..they really should be first ones you want to stitch  Good luck with the challenge!

Wow, I have a hard enough time trying to do a small project aside from my big project most times, let alone 15. Though I do admire your determination and I look forward to seeing your progress.

I think that is a fantastic idea but I only really stitch larger designs so I would have no hope of finishing them in the year. Goodluck with it Kell :D

I'm with you Vanessa - I also tend to do larger projects, so there's no way I could finish 15 in the year... Fun idea though!

I am already signed up for the Up 4 the challenge group. I will join u in this one as well..... I would need to figure out how to be more organized because I don't have the space to put all 15 projects on the table. I also may not be at home everyday of Jan since I may be at my mother's to celebrate her birthday in Jan. So what I will do is set it up and do 15 different one each day when I do them and then do the rotation among my other projects. I wondered how many I would be able to get them finished? It will be a challenge for me as I am anxious to get most of my charts waiting to get started on them. :D

No size is specified, so I'm assuming you can do any size you like. I've chosen a mizture of small and medium-sized desings. None of mine are particularly large really, so I'm hopeful I will finish them all this year. I'll certainly get the smaller ones (bookmarks) done at least. :)

I'll root from the sidelines. I've three huge pieces to finish before June (*gulp*), as well as two books, so am having trouble working in sleeping time. Shall watch all you lot go crazy, instead. :D

I have a lot of models started, I wanted them to finish in 2011, I spotted among the models work and Christmas cards, I hope I do not plan to hold this year. Good luck Kell.

Hmm, it's tempting, I have a lot of stash to get through. I'll see if I can get myself organized in time for January 1st. I told my DH about it and he just laughed. :D
