Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments.
Mabel asked me a couple of questions about the pieces and what will happen to them. Well, first of all, they will belong to New College at Edinburgh University, although I think the head of the exhibition is trying to sequester them safely in her office after the exhibition ends in October. (Allegedly, the Principal has squirrel-like tendencies... but I couldn't possibly comment.) I have asked if I can have a loan of them next August (2012) for our local show as an exhibit there (not for judging), and it appears I'll be able to do this.
As for finishing, well, apart from the careful application of an iron, the sampler is finished. Unless, of course, at a later date it is framed. Certainly for "Singing the Reformation" is it designed to be seen in a case, as it is. The capital letter will be made into a small, very simple, pillow to be exhibited in the same fashion. Also the (now hemmed, thank heavens) strips of linen that will be the grounding fabric for the two blackwork examples will be sandwiched between flippable perspex for the exhibit. What happens to them later, I don't know, but they ought to be framed in some way, or they will be lost, damaged or both.
Nearly finished with stitching the capital letter, so more updates soon!
