@ Mabel...Two Lowery stands certainly solves the 'Millenium Sag' that I've experienced.
Still looking for an adaptation as my stitching char won't allow a 'meccano solution'

Re: 2022 Deliveries & Stash Acquisitions
Need more stiffness... 3" diameter steel gas pipe with a 1/2" thick steel base plate?
Where is the deflection coming from, Wendy? Is it the structure bending or is it actually the fact the stand is resting on the carpet, and the toe of the foot plate is digging further into a carpet? Other likely sources of deflection would be bend of the foot plate - which will be magnified by the height of the stand - and deflection of the 1/2" diameter upper section.
The other solution I can see is having a stand that goes all the way across the chair and rests on the floor on the other side of your chair.
Regards,
Richard.

Re: 2022 Deliveries & Stash Acquisitions
It's the weight of the Millennium frame.
The Lowery stand is placed with the flat foot plate under the leg of a chair. That's fine and works well.
I have a lighter weight and longer Siesta roller frame which is fine but the Millennium is only 16" long but much more robust and heavier. It also has rounded side arms which don't fit as easily into the Square clamp on the Lowery.
I see that Mabel used a prop on the outward end of her frame for support but that won't fit on my chair as the cushion is fixed to the frame of the chair.
I like the sound of the gas pipe but we are all electric here!! I guess I could go onto the building site and sneak a piece of scaffolding but I've mis-placed my hard hat and high viz jacket!!
I shall take advice from my D/H as he's nearer than Kent and I don't want to add to your considerable workload.

That looks fun! Any idea what all that is going to be transformed into?

Re: 2022 Deliveries & Stash Acquisitions
The whole thing comes from a need to provide a relatively simple craft project for our local news magazine, the next edition coming out in March. I decided on felt, as it's so easy and forgiving to stitch and glue, although these designs could equally well be made with fabric. I'm not usually the one to have to do this, hence the purchases.
Well, I have templates for rabbits and ducks (ancient cookie cutters!) and also for various sizes of eggs. The plan is to cut out the felt into these shapes and use buttons, ribbon, ric ray, beads, etc., to decorate -- these are additional buttons plus ribbons which might be used for hangers (they are only 3mm -- tiny). I might make the egg double layered (a "Jammy Dodger" sort of effect), decorating the "inside". The rabbits obviously need nice pink bits inside their ears and also tails (hence the tiny pom poms, though perhaps not the green...). Then it's a matter of deciding whether to use something like shirt cardboard to put between front and back layers of felt for a bit of stiffness.

The tails are going to be adorable! (For those who would like a stitching challenge you could suggest Turkey rug stitch )

Re: 2022 Deliveries & Stash Acquisitions
I think I may have found a solution to the "Millennium Sag" when using the Lowery Stand
Change chair from my usual to the chair I use for my computer/ sewing machine desk.
Lucky me, having Two chairs eh!
The computer chair has arms higher than my Poang that I normally sit in to stitch. I can rest the sagging end onto the arm of the chair, just need a pad to raise it a little and to protect the arm of the chair. The rounded arms of the Millennium stand now don't pull out from the square clamp.
Square hole/Round Peg Syndrome I guess!
Just need to stop the wheels of that chair running away...so not perfect, but it seems to work.
In the absence of any Meccano or Pit Props this just could be a Result!!

Great solution! As for the chair wheel, a chock might do?
(Which reminded me of Chicken Run, and "chocs away" )

Re: 2022 Deliveries & Stash Acquisitions
Last night I ordered a kit from my favourite Charivna Myt, at 11 am today I collected it at the express mail office. It has to be stitched by July.
Theatre Night. 53x 26cm
And here is where I am with my WIP.

Theatre Night is very atmospheric, I look forward to seeing you stitch it. And your autumn piece is looking beautiful. You always seem to pick scenes that people would be happy to look at for a long time!

A lovely update for sure. It looks as though you are almost finished on the lovely autumn coloured one.
Love your new 'challenge' I am sure you will have it done in time. Your speedy needle is ready to get working again.

Hello my name is Jo and I am a shop acholic especially when it comes to cross stitch items I admit I have broken my new year resolution and yesterday I lost all self control by hitting the buy button on a couple of things on Fleabay, I had been doing so well In the meantime, while I wait for those, this pre-loved item turned up for £5 and I felt the need..
Yes, it was pre-loved (chewed )by a puppy who took a chunk out of the side of the final backstitching pattern and broke two of the thread holes on the pre-sorted thread card
