Re: Star Wars Afghan:Obi-wan Kenobi,Jedi Master Cross Stitch Complete 01/14/2022

Post by rcperryls »

Thank you all for your kind comments. I have completed the cross stitch. I think the the bottom 5 rows took as long as the rest of the design because I had to stitch so much over the loosely woven section of the fabric (that divides the squares). There are a few misses, but pretty well hidden, I think.
Now the back stitch and then on to the next figure.

It must be so tricky toget that right, but it's clear from how neat it looks that you've got a lot of experience with it!

I don't usually get frustrated with back stitching because it brings so much of a piece to life, but the robe in particular was hard to do. I think that was because the shades of brown were so close, including mixed threads and a section was over that loosely woven part of the fabric. I was especially delighted when I stitched the fist holding the light saber because it really looks like a fist holding a light saber. Some days simple achievements are most appreciated.

Yes, the position of the thumb is very realistic (although I've only just noticed that he lacks two fingers... comes from being a cartoon character, I suppose :-) )
I've never stitched over those loosely woven threads but I've stitched on afghans that had them and I wouldn't have liked to try, especially with detailed backstitch to follow - great work :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Got a pretty good start I think on the 3rd character. For most any Star Wars fan I think this is an easy guess. And please ignore the few strands of black cat hair that I missed

Could be Grogu, He’s green as well, right? Either way, it’s a great start.

Thank you all for the feed back. Yes it could be Grogu but when it’s finished you should be able to tell that Master Yoda is a lot (at least 850 years) older than Grogu. Almost, but not quite as cute.

Didn't get a lot more stitched this week, but posting weekly updates keeps me motivated. Did begin the background stitching.
