I have everything finished except the dates. The backstitching is done and and Her name is on, I have to wait until Tuesday to get the dates that she taught it is either 35 or 37 years. A friend of mine at the school district is looking up the exact dates.

What a lovely present, I'm sure it'll bring (happy) tears to her eyes! Knowing that someone found you so special they wanted to make something like that for you is such a great feeling. (One of the great things about stitching, I think -- the opportunity to give really personal presents)

Such lovely words, too; I was a teacher for 8 years before my marriage and move to England, and I can only hope that I was all that to my students (12 to 18-year-olds; a challenging group, but wonderful to work with!)

We invited my friend to dinner last night and I gave her the picture. She was so inpressed that I would take the time to stitch for her and of course she cried, but they were happy tears. Her husband was much impressed too, he immediately said I know right were it will go. Well they were still having a discussion on th best place for it when we left 2 hours later. We had a wonderful dinner, good company, good wine and just an all around nice time.

Isn't it the best part of stitching when you see someone touched by it? But we knew all along that she will be more than happy to have such a wonderful gift.
