Great update! It looks like this would be a fun stitch with the cool design and all the nice bright colors.
I completely agree. Love the colors!

Started a new stocking. Pretty sure I already found an error in the pattern. In the right window pane there is a candy cane. The two bottom red X’s asked for purple thread, but I made them red.

Good start on the stocking. I have seen purple candy canes and multiple colored candy canes, but I agree that red and white is what was probably meant in the pattern. I love watching the stockings develop. This one already has that Christmasy, wintry feel to it. Looking forward to your updates!

Red & white makes it so recognisably a candy cane! (I didn't even know you could get other colours

) I like the fact that you are interpreting the pattern as it makes sense to you.

Got a fair bit done this week. It was a bit difficult to get started, the combination of dark material and over 2 threads. But once I got into the swing of it, it moved fast.

I totally agree!

I agree that switching to an over 2 threads method can be really tricky in the counting at first. Its like having to learn a new way of focusing when looking at the fabric. And I admire your stitching on dark material. I haven't been able to do that for years. This is going to be beautiful!

At first I was shining the flashlight from an old phone up through the material, but I found it unnecessary as I got going a bit more. It is not as bad as working on black.

This week’s update. Looking at the actual material, and even looking at the picture in the book, I never noticed the face in the moon. I only noticed it in this photo. I like it!

The Man in the Moon is very subtle, but lovely.

I find that it isn't until I take a photo of some of my projects that I spot things that I wasn't aware of or realize that something actually looks like it is supposed to look. I think photos let you see the whole rather than having a focus on the particular area you are stitching. I think the Man in the Moon makes the design a little extra special!

This is looking so lovely! I can't wait to see it with the backstitch (if any cause that makes things really pop!
I agree its not until you take a couple of steps back that you see some of the details

Pictures is where I usually notice if I missed an area.
And, I usually do all the backstitch at the end because I really enjoy watching it pop.
