As long as we are not mass producing the same design we are fine on the copyright. We are each only doing one design and we are not profiting from the sales. Charity is a very grey area but it is the mass production that designers fear and the exchange of the "pattern". If you think that the design you are making needs to get permission to be used in a charity event then it is best to contact the designer for permission. Be sure to tell them it is for a charity and that you plan to make ___ number of cards. Most will be happy to give permission some may want their name posted as the designer. If the pattern is from a magazine that is more then 15 years old I was once told the charity permission is not needed. But that does not mean that the copyright is not still in effect.

The way this was set up, with us, since we are all only doing one maybe two cards, this would be the same as stitching a kit and selling or giving it away. The designer can not stop it because the price that you get for the sales is for your work not for the actual pattern/kit.

I would love to say yes but as things are for me at the mo, i really dont want to say yes and let anyone down either. I will try my best once i have come back off hols and got results to do some if there time. If not i will try my best to make some for the time after, but i cant promise to anythings as u all no what im like. Sorry.

I have done one and will send it off to you next time I get to a post box, Angel. I still have your address.

I haven't got any cellophane bags (unless I can nick one from my bought cards pile) so would a plastic bag do ?

Angel I am going to do a card for you. I have decided. It is not that big od a progect and I want to be part of this so I am just going to do it. Should have something end of next week.

Mags that's a very pretty card. Is it A6 size? If so I can just add in an extra cello bag when I send the cards to Angel.

Thank you, Susan, yes it is A6, that would be brilliant. I'll send it in a plastic bag anyway to keep it clean. I haven't put any greeting in it so I will also put in a handwritten sticky label saying "Blank Card". I have put a printed "stitched with love...." sticky on the back of the card.

Don't think I have any A6 size though..what are the measurements of that? in inches?

I just searched for paper size and got a bit more than I bargained for :lol:

C_F, just the nearest one to that size will do ^_^

Here's mine, sorry Jayms stole my network cable for his laptop which means I can't scan it to put it online and he doesn't have photobuckets editing software installed so I can't edit my phone picture, so ignore the darkness, I will scan it later.

Thank you, it took me about 6-10 hours and I did something really strange too. You see I had the pattern and I stitched it...in mirror! I can't believe I somehow managed to mirror the actual design! :shock:

I've finished one design now, but have jsut realised I can't show you yet. I had to take my laptop for repair today and wont get it back for a week. :doh:
I've got this computer but the card readrer doesn't work on here, so no chance to upload it.

Anyhow, I'm going to take Susan up on her kind offer of making the card, but have suddenly realised something quite crucial ... she will see the back of my work!!! :shock:


Ooer! not, it has to be admitted, a pretty sight. :doh:
