I have two HUGE mistakes on my "Boston Strong" project which is making me afraid to post an update. I know you won't be mean but I know you will see the mistakes. I'm very embarrassed. I finally starting stitching on it again last night after taking about one week off. Slow and steady, right?

Slow and steady is right and I can't imagine anyone being mean here, especially when giving feedback to another member. Have you been able to fix the error? I'll bet it isn't half as obvious as you think. Do you need help or ideas on how to fix it? I can't imagine a mistake that someone hasn't also made (I know I make plenty and have learned how to cover up a fair amount of mistakes in the process  )

You're doing great work. Sorry about the mistakes. They happen to us all. I think I've only had to ditch one project due to a mistake, and I wasn't that far along. I sure hope you don't have to start again, since it doesn't sound like it's your favorite to work on.

Here is a long delayed update on "Boston Strong." The one mistake I thought I made I didn't make but there are still two VERY messy stitches that my eye automatically goes to every time I look at it.

The words "Boston Strong" get stitched white but I'm saving that until the very end to prevent the floss from getting dirty, even though I'm super careful.

Well, I can't see your messy stitches - it looks great to me! :applesauce: However, if you're using 2 strands and the messy stitches really bug you there's a way to tidy them up. Basically you slide the point of your needle under the strand that's closer to the fabric and pull it up slightly, whilst pulling the other strand a little tauter so that they end up sitting next to each other on the suface of the fabric. I haven't explained that very well, but I remember seeing a diagram on the internet somewhere. If I can find it again I'll post it so you know what I mean. I don't know if it works once the stitch is anchored or whether you have to do it before you continue stitching, but it might be worth a try.

I think it looks GREAT!!! I can't see the two stitches. I am working on a HUGE piece and I see all the flaws, but each time someone sees it they can't see my messed up stitches. It is just how we proceed our own work. Keep up the great stitching!

:applesauce: :applesauce: I also think it looks great! And I can't see the messy stitches either. I agree with littleturtlegirl that we see them only because we know where to look. I see other people's work and admire how neat and consistent their stitches are and then look at mine and think they are messy and uneven. We are usually our own worst critics

Thanks! You're right, I am my worst critic. Especially when I cook (which I love to do!) I'm very critical of my cooking. I'm trying a new recipe today that is outside of my comfort zone and I'm nervous.

"messy stitches" what messy stitches. As always we are our own harshest critics and it looks really really great. Well Done :applesauce: :applesauce:

Here's my update on my "Boston Strong" awareness ribbon. I'm pleased with what I accomplished because I really didn't stitch very long. I'm afraid there probably won't be any updates for a while because I'm starting a new round of chemo and I'm not sure how I'll feel. I'm also trying to work on some other gifts. Enjoy!

:applesauce: :applesauce: Lovely update! And :x: and  that the chemo goes well without a lot of side effects so that you will feel better soon.

It's finished! Well, it needs to be pressed and turned into a pillow by my mama but I'm done stitching! I suffered from bad insomnia this past week and today so I got a lot accomplished in the early morning hours. I also stitched in the white letters "boston strong" as I saved that for last to prevent it from getting dirty. YAY!

I really hope my brother's girlfriend who ran the marathon enjoys this. It's not really her style but I really think she will appreciate it.
