Progress :)

She's going quite fast as lovely to stitch as ever, I had a real doozy of a pain attack the other night so I've been recovering mainly in bed. But on the up now hopefully. I've finished the rose at her face and some of her hair and I also finished my Christmas bunting today despite getting up at 2pm!

She looks amazing. I have the magazine and bought it partly because of her. You are definitely doing her justice. Hope you feel better.

Cross stitching done!

Image

(Eta, the cloth is laid over the rollers hence the two bulges....)

I always have a bit of saddness to finsih the cross stitching! Now I've started on the backstitch and then the beads last. I bought another reel of the Krenick as I'm far from convinced I can do the huge feathered fan in her hand with what I have left over from the one reel.

I'm still recovering from last weeks big bad attack, and I've not done much today. Also though I've been sewing a patchwork/quilt? Cover for my chair, I'm at the stage where I'm freaking out about how the heck I'm going to quilt this huge long thin thing with a small sewing machine. Luckily, I think..., my parents have some visitors tomorrow for the weekend and the lady is a very very skilled quilt maker....I'm not sure if I dare show her my freestyle "what the heck if I do a two metre quilt for my first time" project.....but I hope that quilters will be as lovely and encouraging as cross stitchers....

Your flapper gal is amazing. I now really want to stitch her, despite the 1/2 stitches. I'm sure I'll be even more convinced once I see your beading and fan work. Great fabric choice, too.

I'm sure your visitor will be a great help with the quilt. She should be pleased that someone is taking up the craft. I quilt wall hangings (up to 2+ meters x 1 1/2+ meters) on my Janome Gem. It is a fairly small and light machine to take to classes. I start by rolling the fabric up as tight as I can on the machine side and then end up just pushing and pulling to make my corners and curves. (only when stopped and with the presser foot up and needle down.)The roll disappears pretty fast. My biggest issue seems to be the area surrounding the machine. The kitties love it as I accidently hit things off the table and they have instant kitty toys. :) Good luck finishing the quilt and I hope you recover quickly from now on.

That's really helpful works4me, it's very good that you do it n a small machine. The YouTube vids I've been watching are scary and always seem to use a big computerised behemoth to do the quilting!!

I wasn't going to quilt it originally but I realised that it would need stitching more than round the edges as its so long the backing material would just bag.
