Still waiting for the one missing thread for the needle dragon but I have found the perfect piece of fabric! Unfortunately it doesn't show up very well in the pic but it's an opalescent white Lugana

I like the idea of using an Opalescent for the Needle Minder
Hardanger is beautiful! I stitched something on the opalescent white Lugana. It was quite a while ago but I'm pretty sure it was a wedding sampler gift. I'll have to go back and see if I kept any info on it. I remember really liking how it worked. I'm pretty sure that is what it was. Not quite sparkly, not quite shiny but gave the piece a kind of special look. If that isn't what opalescent fabric is, then I don't know what I stitched on.

Here's a picture of it that shows the sparkle. I do find it slightly more difficult to work on than regular fabric as some of the fabric threads seem to be "double" and on occasion I have split them instead of going down a hole (which are a bit less defined than usual), but the effect is worth it

This is fun, watching both you and Jo making the same item!
I agree and such a pretty item as well!

I wouldn't have done in the past, I was always in awe of people who did parking, but doing my canvaswork for the RSN class I ended up working with about six or seven needles at one point and it got me used to the idea . I make sure I bring each needle up where it needs to be used next, which minimises the danger of mixing colours up.
the cards are lovely!
I also have been and still am awed by the people who are able to park threads. I get lost when I have more than 2. I am especially impressed with those who can park and have lots of threads hanging. I thought once I had a stand to put the frame on it would be easier, but I guess I'm just not coordinated enough or too old to change. One or the other, or maybe both.

Lovely progress. If I remember correctly, there is a lot of subtle color changes in TW designs.

Yes, there are a lot of colour changes, and most of what I've stitched so far is blends. Last night there was a bit of solid colour, the mauve at the bottom of the tummy. Have also done more of the tail. Sorry for the update overload, but it's keeping me motivated!
there is no such thing as an update overload. Every time I see an update I am more motivated to get my stitchy bug back. He has been awol way too long. Please keep the updates. When I get restarted, I hope to bore everyone with updates!
