Squirrel you are so right, which is what made this so enjoyable to stitch.
It’s finally finished, I hand washed very carefully, ironed and took it to the framers today!

Framed pieces

I was hoping to have this gifted for Christmas, but we’re in tier 4. I’m so tempted to send a photo of what it is, they have no idea I’ve made this for them. Or to keep it a surprise 😩

They've turned out lovely! It's whatever feels right for you, of course, but I rather like the idea of sending a photo - they'll be able to enjoy it a bit already, and then enjoy it even more when they see the real thing with all its added "tangibility" and that sense of holding something in your hands which you can never get in a photograph.

I agree completely. That is what I did when my great nephew was born. Of course, knowing me, there was no doubt in my niece's mind that her Auntie Carole was going to stitch something. I sent them photos but from their reaction to receiving the real pieces in the mail when I did get to send them, they enjoyed it even more, based on the reaction. Whomever it is going to will have two wonderful surprises. The photo and then the real one.

At least the is MHO.
