Another New Year, Mabel! And the elves have done wonders setting things to rights, as usual.

It's great to have an elf-cleaning pub!

Now come and sit by the fire (northern hemisphere members) or the breezy open window (southern hemisphere members) and let's all have our favourite tipple while thinking of what we can add to the S&G menagerie this year.

The drone display is a cracker, isn't it! All to welcome folks like yourself (and Mr W, naturally) to your new home. As for the shortbread... ... I've baked some more...

I found a recipe which looks really good (it uses part rice flour, is that traditional?) but Mr Mabel was given a big box of shortbread for Christmas so I'll wait a bit before trying it out :-)

Yes, rice flour is used sometimes. It makes the biscuit "shorter" (more crumbly).

It is so wonderfully cozy and friendly and loving as usual. The elves did a perfect job. Is that a little "baby Yoda" I see playing with the Unicorns? Certainly they look like they are having a lot of fun! The shortbread is right next to me Wendy. I didn't mean to hog it, just too lazy to move from the fireplace right now. It is very yummy.

Awesome barely describes the Scottish Hogmanay Drone display. I just watched it all (only saw Part 1 before). Fantastically beautiful!!

 I followed the trail of shortbread crumbs...only to find a scrunched up paper bag with....yes more crumbs!
But! Then I saw that Serinde had made another batch and hidden them under the Puffin shaped tea cosy so I'm happy now!

I would like to relax and found an empty seat at the bar! To go with those scrummy shortbreads... I think I'll take a dram of The Macallan. 18 year. Neat. In a Glencairn glass. :)

This round in the pub is on me! So order up! Don't be shy! :)

Thak you! It's early in the morning and we've just opened for business again (well, yesterday) so I think I'll stick with my usual hot-choc-with-marshmallows for now. Might need something stronger later when the whole lockdown thing hits....

We have a light dusting of snow and it's still snowing very lightly.
We are staying in so you'll find me by the Log Fire with a hot coffee :coffee: this morning. I made a Big Gingerbread yesterday and it's available when anyone wants to join me by the fire. :D

Frosty here, and misty, but no snow. Lots of very decorative cobwebs though!
Mostly work at the moment but having a Zoom chat with some friends in a few minutes, and this weekend I'll bring golden Bruce and sit watching the unicorns and stitch.

Sunny and almost cloudless here in Kent.

Not bad at all. Shame I'm having to work.

Still some snow on the hills north and south of us but not here.
We were told the other day that if it did snow here then it would be Really Bad in the rest of Scotland!

I'll have a :coffee:, thank you. We don't get snow very often here and it is always a fun time because of that. Usually goes away in a day or two. It has been a much colder winter than usual so far (I think) but then I had enough winter when I was back in Chicago to last a life time. I freaked myself out the other day when I realized that I have lived here for more than half my life. But the memory of the cold and snowy winters always remains fresh. A great climate for growing up but once you have to drive to work fondness for snow and ice has a tendency to disappear. At least for me it did.

Well, the bunting is up, and the bar is open (thank goodness it’s virtual) and the banqueting tables groaning. I think we deserve a celebration today.
