Re: Podolyanka's Finishes 2020
Oh my goodness, I don't know how I missed this thread yesterday when I came back.
The Map is absolutely beautiful Lyudmila, and the Easter Runner is absolutely lovely too.
Your needle must be smoking hot.
The flowers and fruit of your latest project are so gorgeous, those apples look as though they would tempt Snow White, they are so realistic.
Huge Congratulations.

Re: Podolyanka's Finishes 2020
I am off to the office of express/courier mail to collect my kit from Charivna Myt (Ukrainian designers) I am starting in parallel as I need it for January. It is for the angler and hunter who was presented last year with Janlynn's "Fisherman's Dream". Here is a picture of what it will look like when stitched:
40cm x 40 cm, 27 colours, 3 blends. Even in threads it looks like a watercolour picture.

That's going to be lovely -- I can see why you want to stitch it!

Oh, that's lovely, I can see why you chose it.
It is so atmospheric.
It will make an excellent companion piece to your lovely Fisherman's Dream, I remember that one.

What a lovely design, you'll enjoy working on that one I'm sure! I particularly like the attitudes of the dogs, so realistic.

Re: Podolyanka's Finishes 2020
It is to be stitched in 2 and in 1 strand on Aida 14. I have never stitched other than in 3 strands on 14ct. Wont it look "bald" in 2 strands, let alone in one? Thank you in advance for sharing your experience.

Re: Podolyanka's Finishes 2020
My thought would be that they are aiming for a sort of very delicate watercolour look - so you're right, it won't look as bold as most of your work, it's a different effect.

Re: Podolyanka's Finishes 2020
That is going to be every so beautiful Lyudmyla.
As for your concerns about using only 2 strands I always use only 2 strands, to me using 3 makes it too bulky.
I am looking forward to watching this one grow under your busy needle.

It’s a beautiful design. As for the number of strands on 14 count...I always use two strands and love the effect.

Re: Podolyanka's Finishes 2020
Thank you, I really was concerned with the strands. Now that you say you stitch in 2 strands on 14 count and it is no problem, I will stitch without worrying. Cant wait to finish the towel to start this picture. There is work roughly for two ful stitching days with the centre, and then about 5 days for the ends. I do hope I will do the towel on time(Nov. 13).

Love the bright and cheerful colours of this.
What a contrast the 'Fisherman's Dream' will be.

Re: Podolyanka's Finishes 2020
It's as though you could pick each and every bit of that wreath off the fabric - that's the result of your 3-strand stitching, I think, makes it very bold!

Re: Podolyanka's Finishes 2020
And when you touch it, it feels like velvet. Plus the fabric feels thick and heavy where it is stitched. And no, it does not lose its neatness. It was Le Idee di Susanna Italian cross stitch magazine who taught me to stitch all tablecloths, tablerunners, towels, napkins, etc in 3 strands just to make the stitching survive many-many washings. Then I tried this method on a picture and liked the result. But my favourite Janlynn has taught me to follow the instruction honestly.
