Might be out of touch for a while

Post by rcperryls »

Going to be with a neighbor and the odds are we will lose power, maybe, as Dorian passes us by. Don't know what will happen to internet etc, so if you don't hear from me, you will know why. Should we lose power, it probably won't be for long since we are on the same power lines as the local hospital. Makes a difference and our neighborhood lines are underground so we don't have to worry about power lines on the ground which is very good.
Hope to be back in touch soon.

Stay safe, Carole. DH, cats and I are in Maryland for evacuation since we're 1.5 miles from the ocean. I hope we can go home Friday but we might be flooded. I have to say, I haven't been able to sleep since we left Myrtle Beach. :(

God Bless under-ground power lines they are so much less trouble. Keep safe and hopefully everything will be fine in your area.

I'm back and thank y'all for your good wishes. Rosey and I got through it fine. We stayed with our neighbor Wed through yesterday evening. Never lost power though it flickered a little and at her house we didn't lose cable or internet which was great. My power stayed on but I had to wait till this afternoon to get internet and cable back which is more than manageable knowing how close we came to what "could have been". Didn't flood and I lost only one big limb from a maple tree in my front yard. A few limbs in the back. Rosey did much better than expected and everyone I know came through safe and sound.

Kuschelschaf, hope your home is safe also. I'm about 5 miles from the beach and though a tidal creek runs behind my house, its never flooded. At least not yet, nor has the tidal pond next to us. Let us know how y'all fared when you get back home. I think all in all the worst part for us was how slow it was and not knowing how strong it would be. It was Cat 3 as it passed by. But I am so very very thankful and feel so blessed that we did not have what the Bahamas dealt with. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

So good to know that all is well with you and Rosie Carole and that your home and surrounds are ok too. Yes the Bahamas are a total wreck - or so it seems from the news clips.

Kuschelschaf - I do hope that all is OK where you are too and I look forward to hearing your news.

Back again. At least for now. I think the worst part is admitting to myself how dependent I have become on technology. The best part is knowing how wonderful neighbors are!

:whoop: yay! You and Miss Rosey made it through safe and well :whoop:

It must have been a horrible time for you and our other members in the region - hope the others are safe too.

Completely agree good neighbours are a blessing indeed :D

Haven't heard from her yet and hope everything is okay. I think the worst of the storm hit just north of her, but I'm not sure. It was by far the slowest moving storm I can remember. And persistent. I think I read several hundred thousand people in the Canadian Maritimes (and my geography is so bad I'm not sure where that is) were without power. I just know that my heart goes out to the people in the Bahamas. I can't begin to imagine the horror.

Hey everyone! Sorry I had been out of touch! My computer is dead and my data on my phone is spotty. That being said, I got back safe and sound. DH, Darth Kitty, Radar and I are all safe and finally back home. We got some more wind damage to our awning (Florence and Irma did a number on it already) over the balcony and the street signs around us fell down.

I am glad though that is all we had. Little Radar did travel well this time. When we got back home and let her out of the carrier, she sniffed around then climbed back in and fell asleep! Bless her! Lol. Darth Kitty was another story. He slept the whole way and when he got home, he was super grumpy and wouldn't eat. :( I ended up putting on Bostons first album for him (he seems to love it) and he seemed a little less grumpy. Haha

Glad that Carole and every one else that was affected is safe! My heart goes out to all who suffered the worst of the storm!

Kuschelschaf, glad that y'all are safe and made it back home with minimal feline difficulties. Karen, did you get anything. When it first started out it was headed straight to Tampa.

Oh, don't worry about us. It's hardly more than a bit breezy now and rain, well we get much worse normally each winter. Dorian sure likes to travel, though, eh? Has anyone thought to check a passport at the border? 8)
