I stitched in the stamens on the right side group of flowers and put on 3 or 4 beads but even though the beads I got were super tiny (I looked in a few stores, they were the smallest I could find and they are indeed really, really small but they're not stitched into their own square, they're placed randomly on top of the pattern at the ends of the stamens), they looked huge and the whole thing looked wrong. So I took all of that out. I am not interested in doing 75 french knots so I put it in a hoop and am calling it done. I think it turned out pretty - it's hard to see in pictures, but the fabric is so beautiful. It's a pale, pale blue with white mixed in, so it looks like the bird is in the sky. She will love it, I'm sure! Her birthday is today -- ON TIME! (even if only because I'm not doing beads!)
I am absolutely in love!! I know your mom will be thrilled with it!! Congrats on a beautiful finish!!! And way to go for finishing on time!!

It is, it's a set of 4 different bluebirds. All really pretty - but this is the one my mom picked. Thank you everybody for the kind words!
I also had another finish today -- I've had the stitching done on this for months, but it was too big to fit on a mason jar lid so it was just sitting until I got up the desire/time to learn how to put it in a hoop with a felt back. Well, today was that day! It was surprisingly easy! I've got so many patterns that are too big for a jar but still small, so I just ordered 12 hoops in bulk so I can make a bunch of these. So much fun!

In between other things I've been doing a few more Floral Gems - here's the latest, in an orangy palette; I try to do these colours as well even though they are not the ones I instinctively go for, but it means at workshops I have models to show in various colours.
Quite proud that this set of designs is in Stitch magazine this month!

Isaacson72, the bird turned out to be perfect without the beads. I hope your mum loved it.

I'll be doing more of the gem projects as they make nice cards and are good travel projects - but this one had another purpose. I wanted another stitched model so each table has one at the workshop.
It's wheatear stitch - basically a reverse chain with straight stitches at an angle. Rather labour-intensive, but effective! At the workshops I offer people the option of doing plain chain stitch if they think it's too much like hard work
me too!! I love when you use a stitch that isn't typical and always looks perfect!
