The other "Old & New" design has now been stitched, in silver blue and purple Petite Treasure Braid. Unfortunately the sparkle doesn't really show up in the pic :-( . The fabric is opalescent lugana.

:applesauce: :applesauce: Wish the sparkle came through better, but that is often a problem with photos. Very delicate and elegant!

Brilliant work on the white/blue one, looks like finely made lace. Cat is cute & other one pretty too. Such varied designs again Mabel, each one has its own appeal but definitely love the white one. :applesauce: :applesauce:

The sparkly may not show up, but the piece is still so delicate and beautiful.

We've been away for a bit so I haven't posted pics of this even though I finished it last Monday. It's Old & New 1 in beads, and boy it pops, especially in sunshine! I wish I could post it here in 3D :-) - the closest thing is a straight-on and a slightly angled, sun-drenched view.

*sob* It's black...
Is there any way of getting the fabric to look black without making the beads too dark?

probably not. I know that when my husband put together a photo gallery of his paintings, he had to take the photos outside in sunlight or the colors would really be completely different. That might work. Or a professional photographer could?

I am not getting anywhere with the beaded purple/blue/silver one, and I can't get up the enthusiasm to pick it up. In fact, I've done very little stitching at all over the past few weeks, not helped by gastric flu.

However I did do some designing, and one of the designs I then adapted for a 90th birthday present for my MIL. The only downside is that it'll be too big for a card, I haven't got a frame, I've picked the silks but not even transferred the design yet, and it needs to be finished by Thursday evening. We'll see!

Image

By the way, they are Rainbow Gallery Splendor silks, and the lightest yellow on the left is actually much yellower than it looks in the picture!
