Has any of you ever tried it?

This is another tutorial that was found for putting together Biscornu. Daz posted it in his SAL but I thought it would be a shame to lose it.

This has come up on a few occasions and I thought it would be nice to have some pictures as well as an explanation.

Loop Start!!!!!

Begin by cutting a length of thread that you are comfortable working with and your needle
Image

Fold the thread in half and thread the 2 ends through the eye of the needle
Image

Starting from the back with your first square. Poke needle through the fabric.
Image

On the back side you will have the loop.
Image

Make the first leg of your cross and poke the needle through the fabric to the back side.
Image

Run the needle through the middle of the loop.
Image

Pull the thread tight and you have made the Loop Start.
Image

I hope this may help someone.

Has anyone found this tip on this blog??? It is a tip for getting creases out of Aida cloth. I have a coupe of pieces of Aida that I am going to try this on. Not sure when I will get time to do it but it sounds like maybe this is a new trick.

Rose, that's a good idea, but to save time, I'm gonna' cheat & tell everyone in 6 sentences what took Pamela over 6 minutes.

Soak aida in scalding hot water. Remove to towel, spread out & blot dry. Take the core-roll from aluminum foil/wax paper. Cover core-roll with wax paper & roll up your aida tightly onto it. Place in freezer 'til frozen (half an hour, an hour?). When you are ready to iron it, take it out of the freezer & iron the frozen cloth.

This will remove 99% of the creases (at least that's what Pamela said a dozen times).

I was afraid I was the only one who noticed how long and dragged out she made what would otherwise have been a very good tutorial. I haven't tried it but might as I did through some of my old kits. The creases in the aida is one reason why I have almost always switched out the fabric.

Wouldn't your fabric shrink in scalding hot water?

I have found this video extremely useful for when I had my bead work on my projects.

If anyone has any advise on ribbon work on their projects I would greatly appreciate it. I've been putting off completing a project because I don't have a clue how to approach it.

I don't think so. The process to weave/make the aida is a compacting process (if those are the correct words?) I'm pretty sure it's as shrunk as it can get.

Thanks for bringing this to the fore as not seen it before - well may have done but forgotten to go back to it.

As for getting creases out of fabric I want to use I wash it, then either dry it flat between two layers of towel until just damp & then iron it. Or after washing put it in towel & roll up gently before lying it flat until almost dry before pressing either with an iron. Guess putting it in freezer would save a lot of my time

When a project is finished & washed, before framing I usually put it under a few books for a few days to get it really flat. Maybe some of you have other methods better than mine? Would be glad to hear them :)
