Stitching New Year Resolutions or Wishlist.

Post by Rose »

There is no pressure to put up a list only if you are comfortable doing so. Do you have a list of stitching that you would like to complete???? Are you just wanting to get some motivation for projects????? Or do you have some deadlines for stitching you need to meet?????? If so come share and maybe we can help you with some motivational encouragement.

1)I am gathering patterns to start on my son's quilt. I hope to be better and finish it faster then my daughters...

2)Finish Ana of course

3) Stitch at least 2 more Glendon Place patterns for Halloween

4) Stitch up some very special present for some folks that mean alot to me. That would be 7 people

That is it for this year.

My main wish is for Mr stitchy bug to stay around and Mr frog to stay on vacation.

I'd like to get a good dent made in my 3 projects in my rotation. Also clear some of my abandoned stuff.

I want to finally finish my HAED . I wanted to get it done this year, and would have if it wasn't for comissioned stitching, but that took priority.

I also want to do a few more ornaments.. maybe finish up the Christmas Village ornaments I started. I know I'll be stitchin several more Lizzie Kates - I've already had a request from someone who wants to give his grandmother a whole set of them for christmas next year.

In non-cross stitchy crafting I want to work on a quilt - I have all the supplies, I just need to finialize the pattern I want to use and get started. And knot a pair or two of socks. I wanted to do that this past year and it didn't happen.

I generally don't do small projects, so my 'list' is very short: finish my WiP and start the next one. If I manage to finish that one before the end of the year, start the next one.

I've never made a "to-do" list (notice how I avoid the word resolution), but I've been planning on making a general one for 2015. I went through all my stash and made a list of my kits and "priority" charts, as well as my fabric, and from that I'll work on a list. (And the fabric...I think it reproduces in the closet...how'd I get so much?) If/when I get my list, I'll share.

I do not usually make any lists, especially at the start of a year. However I know that 2016 is a big year and has several dead lines for
stitching to be done so I have sort of made a mental list like this

1. Finish off the Chatleaine lettering so it can be seen. 25th wedding anniversary present Jan 2016

2. Grandson turning 18 in Jan - 2 days after above date.

3. Only sister turning 70 in May

4. My own 80th in the July and likely visitors from the US soooo at least 1 or 2 small Aussie type designs as thank you gifts for coming all this way. Also will do ANgel of the Morning by L&L for 1 couple, as he was a paramedic/fireman on Dallas and was 'on call' to go to New York after 9/11.
Angel of the Morning was designed at that time and is dedicated to the memory of those lost in that horror event.

After all that is met I intend to get into 1 of 3 kits I have kept for me!

I want to finish my HEAD Cinderella in 2015. Super close to being done!

Also want to finish my Christmas Elegance Lady (Mirabilia) I have to finish her 1 over 1 skin and bead her. Wouldn't mind finishing another Mirabilia too while I am at it.

Oh and I want to start HAED Treasure Hunt Bookshelf (LARGE) I have a feeling I could finish it by the time I am 50 and I should have saved up some money by then to be able to afford the framing cost! @rotfl:

My commissions take up most of my time now. I want to start a new line of extravagant designs. Big, full of beads and treasures and Kreiniks and silks based on some of my favorite fairy tales ..... :whoop: I have been developing some of the designs so far with some sketches and hope to start plotting them in 2015.

I want to do all the planned stuff in the other drawer.

I would like to get the restraint not to buy anything else ....... but the shops have sold out of restraint packages!

I'd quite like to hang onto my stitchy mojo now that it's returned.

I'd like to finish some of the WIPs that I've got and I want to start some new projects.

I'd like to stitch from my stash for the whole year, but that might be asking a bit too much :P

As others have "stated", I don't do "resolutions" in my life. HE has/will have/had always "control" over this hobby, since day one.
6 "more", In Loving Memory Remembrances, seems HE put these 6 on my heart to do , since finishing up the 7 I did this year, 2 B/D Posies, and "hopefully" the "start" of only grandson's afghan, Pitts. Steelers, after I get afghan stand and outdoor sewing station built, "hopefully" start in May, after income tax comes.
I know, I know, it's a "drop in the bucket" compared to the 17 projects I did this year, which will be "mailed" and 3 local "given out", the 2nd week in Jan., but things are "finally" winding down on the Baby, In Loving Memory and Wedding Remembrances.

As others have stated, I have/had "never" do/done "resolutions."
HE has/had/will have control over this hobby, as HE "lays on my heart" who/what I am to do.
For 2015:
6 "more", In Loving Memory Remembrances, as HE has "laid", since finishing the 17 projects this year, these people.
2 "more" B/D Posies
And "hopefully" the "start" of the only grandson's afghan, Pitts. Steelers, after I get the afghan stand, thread carousel, and outdoor sewing station made, "hopefully" by May, when income tax comes. :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop:

I know, I know, this looks like a "drop in the bucket" compared to the 17 projects I did this year,  but the Baby, In Loving Memory, and Wedding Remembrances are "finally" wounding down, after doing, Baby and Weddings 20 + yrs., and In Loving, 3 yrs.

I would like to make sure I take time over my projects & do them properly even if it takes longer by checking & rechecking. I have the larger one I wrote about earlier yet to arrive & when I do start on it I want to do it properly. It will be the first large counted x stitch I will have done & after asking everyone's advice & also reading through Tips several times I know I MUST make myself do it slowly.

Also have a few Easter cards lined up, have chosen a design & got 2 sets of colours to make it interesting, but need to finish owl first of all.

I would like to finish at least one of my HAEDs and Disney's "Past, Present and Forever" for my son. Both will take me a long time so I will be happy if I managed to finished them before the end of the year. I do have many other UFOs and WIPs that I hope to find some progress throughout the year, though.

Don't do resolutions, as I feel bad when I don't succeed, and this year I want to be nice to myself. :D BUT 2015 will be my "I've started and I WILL finish" year. At the last count I had about 39 ufo's but I confess to being a seriel starter. So this year I will only start a new project when I have completed an old one.

I feel like the odd one, I always have issues starting a project. I have a bunch that I would like to do, buy some stuff for a couple of them and then never start them.

My list is really short this year. I just started my son's Christmas stocking a month ago, but I'll be taking a long break from it when I get the Aurora Cabin kit in next week. My in-laws planned a huge out-of-state Christmas this next year in Idaho/Montana. My father-in-laws parents have a lakeshore cabin in Idaho that he is contemplating buying from them. Not sure what will happen there but for their Christmas present I wanted to pay tribute to all their special memories at the cabin. My mother-in-law loves cross-stitched things but doesn't do them herself, she inherited a handful of them from her grandmother over the years. So hopefully this will be special, I'm hoping I can bear to part with it once it's done because it is going to be A LOT of work.

And halfway through the year I'll be having a baby. So that's about it on my list. Cabin and baby. Hopefully I can keep my sanity too!

Would be to finish my past present forever cross stitch (seems a few of us are working on those at the moment).

I can't see that I will finish it by the end of the year as it don't get much stitching time. But it's always nice to hope :D

My stitching plans for 2015 are a bit different than in previous years! Firstly I am starting 2015 off with a clean stitching slate - no WIPS rolling over from 2014, so I can really focus on designs I want to stitch! Secondly there will be no HAEDs or Chatelaines being stitched in 2015. I think I'm over HAEDs and whilst I still adore Chatelaines, I wanted to focus on other designers' work that I love - pieces have been sat on my wishlist for years but have been pushed aside in favour of HAEDs and Chats, it's time they got stitched!

I have set myself a stitching challenge in 2015 entitled Operation Threadporn :). The idea is to use as many of my hand dyed threads (silks, cottons and perles) as I can in my stitching for the year. Once a thread has been used, it cannot be used again (unless in dire circumstances where it is the only one in a colourway, but I doubt that will happen lol!) and I will keep a running tally throughout the year so at the end of 2015 I can see what percentage of my hand dyed stash I have used. Between 10 - 20% would be great, over 20% and I will be overjoyed! As another sideline I will also be keeping a tally of all the different stitches I'll be using and continue in my quest to learn and use new ones.

As part of Operation Threadporn, every month I will be choosing a freebie design from the hundreds on my hard drive, which will be stitched from stash and has to be finished finished in that month, either an ornamnent, flatfold etc etc to help broaden my finishing horizons. I will also be stitching one of Mabel's SOTW designs each month (from stash) so that I always have a bit of hardanger in my stitching :).

I have three medium sized designs that I have been planning to stitch for quite a while, so I am very excited to be starting (and finishing!) them this year! They are:

* Red by Mirabilia
* Plum Pudding by Glendon Place
* Flamestitch by The Scarlet Letter

The rest of my stitching will be made up from designs I have already kitted (in some cases) and once these are completed I will move on to other charts and designs already in my stash. I have plenty to keep me going as well as over 70 issues of GOSM to keep me occupied. So far kitted up I have ready:

*Les Dentelles SAL 2015 by Brodeuse Bressane
*Eliza and Emma in in the Garden by Just Nan
*Confetti of Hardanger by Abi Gurden
*Sleeping Beauty by The Primitive Hare
*Butterfly Garden by The Drawn Thread
*Living with Charm by Lizzie Kate
*Butterfly Quote by Jodyri Designs

The new technique that I would like to try this year is Schwalm Embroidery - it seems like the perfect match of counted and surface embroidery, I'm a little scared to let go of all the counting and holes just yet lol!

Needless to say I am very much looking forward to my stitching in 2015 - I don't mind how much of the above I accomplish, I just want to have variety in my stitching but above all to have fun!
