Magnifiers

Post by littleturtlegirl »

I have read that many of you use magnifiers, but which one do you guys like the best or the least? I would like to ask for one for my birthday, but reading about them doesn't help me decide which one is best.

I am stitching on Evenweave right now and I have noticed that my eyes hurt a little after stitching for a while, but it doesn't when I use Aida. Because of this I would like to get a magnifier.

Thank you guys in advance. :)

I have the same one and love it. I also use a clip on magnifier like this http://us.daylightcompany.com/product/n90942/" target="_blank" target="_blank, as well as one almost the same as that but with a light. They're too heavy to clip onto a hoop, but perfect for stretcher frames and Qsnaps. I also have a little Ott magnifier http://www.joann.com/ottlite-6x-and-3x- ... ml#start=3" target="_blank" target="_blank which I can clip to hoops. It took me awhile to get used to it and while I think it's very overpriced for the quality, sales and coupons make it reasonable.

I already have a floor lamp I like, so my magnifier is the kind you wear around your neck. Not many folks like'em, but they are inexpensive and very portable. It works for me ...

I have a Purelite 3in1 craft lamp that is very similar to the one rose and Debbie have http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B003UUC ... mp_s_a_1_1
It works perfectly and it is very versatile as it can be used from the floor, table or clamped on your stand. I really recommend it

I have the same one as Oriettait. It's fantastic. I also have a clip-on magnifier
Mighty-Bright-Vusion-Craft-Purple which is great for travelling.

I have the same one as Rose and Debby and I love it. I bought mine at one of the large craft stores (A C Moore, I think) with a 40% off coupon. I also have a smaller table light that I found at Hobby Lobby which I use to provide extra light on my charts (don't have the best light coming in the house and I do most of my stitching afternoon and evening). I have tried quite a few different magnifiers that hang around my neck for when I travel. I have yet to find one that I really like, but can deal with it for the occasional trip.

It works for me, too, as I explained in the other magnifier thread. I put the string behind my head and hook it over my ears and the magnifier stays quite stable while I stitch.

I use glasses that are a strength of +2.75. They are American reading glasses and work great.
