I really like that group of twisted bars -- they fit so snugly into the space and look really crisp. :applesauce:

They're not so fancy as some I've seen with those lovely gold and silver peel-offs that say Happy birthday or something like that *sigh* but I keep them blank so I can make them into anything -- I have some calligraphy fountain pens for occasional work, and use those to write Happy Birthday / Thinking of You / Congratulations or whatever is needed for that particular card.

These are lovely, Mabel. Having them blank makes them very versatile.

7b is done
It was a bit of a journey -- while stitching the model it gained an extra petal, I re-jigged the beads, I changed the colours, and changed the shape of another petal  but here it is, with crossover bars (my own invention) in the middle.

The crossover bars are really interesting. I've only seen something like it on a larger border (one of the pieces of hardanger in my gallery illustrates it). Keeping track of "ups and downs" become very important!

Thanks Serinde, that was the perfect excuse to go through your whole gallery -- what great pieces of embroidery there are in there! I couldn't find the one you meant though, or perhaps I overlooked the detail :thinks: :thinks:

What you said is one of the reasons why I usually qualify the phrase "my own invention" :-) -- it is my own invention, in that I hadn't seen it anywhere, and thought it up myself, but of course there are only so many things you can do with bars and fillings and so different people are bound to come up with the same things sometimes! It is one of the reasons why copyrght can be such a tricky area, and why (unless you know otherwise?) I don't think stitches can be copyrighted.

On to the next Floral Lace -- that'll be Pimpernel (as in "the scarlet..."), with gamma stitches.
