Favorite Stash Websites

Post by maeflowers »

Ok, since most of you "regulars" live overseas, we probably don't have all the same stores to shop at. Since this month I have a little extra cash in my pocket, I thought it would be a lovely opportunity to get some stash.
Cash. Stash. Nevermind. :P

Anyway, since I'm still a newbie, I was wondering what the best places to buy stash from are. I know part of it probably depends on your favorite designers and things like that... but for overall cute, inexpensive patterns with a wide variety, what websites do you guys like to purchase from? [Oh, also, sites that take PayPal or can convert to US currency!]

I have visited http://www.salt-and-pepper.com and purchased from them before. I had some missing skeins in my package but I wrote them, and was compensated. I like their selection, too, they seem to have a wide variety.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

If you are talking about Designs then these two are my favorite. They have very good selections, good prices, and very good service.

If you are talking about fabric then the following sites have wonderful selections, great colors and good service.

If you are looking for some one to help change you, look in the mirror

Maeflowers, I've had very good service and assistance with the Nordic Needle (I think the link is listed in the Internet Sites thread). BtW, if you haven't checked that thread, I recommend doing so, there's quite a bit of variety and personal comments made regarding the sites. I've found some wonderful sites that have been added to my favorites.
Rose's suggestions are great, I've looked their stuff over and they seem to be quite reasonalbe and have great variety. If you are looking for charts or themes that are a bit outside the regular The Mystic Stitch is good, Heaven and Earth Designs, and Cross Stitch Collectibles all carry intricate more art like stitching if you're looking for a challenge. It seems to me there is a site for every style, range of experience or even price range. The internet has really opened all new possibilites. However, whenever possible, I prefer to purchase through my LNS if at all possible. I like to support the small shops trying to stay competitive.
Hope that helps somewhat. Happy Stash Hunting. If you need anyone to "help" you we've had many discussions about the lot of us going to the homes of those who hold wonderful, expansive stash to "help" them sort and decide what they need and what they don't. So I might suggest, you just keep a little eye out for us. Especially those of us close enough to actually show up. Just teasing.

I'm a SewandSo fan as well. I also like Stitch Direct:

and for beads and all sorts of fancy things, I love Debbie Cripps:

Polstitches have some beautiful hand-dyed fabrics and threads:

I'm afraid I haven't bought anything from a site outside of the UK, but I love the Nordic Needle site and regularly drool over the designs.

I also like the Michael Powell designs, Sam - they're such fun, aren't they? Did you know he's got his own site?

For general supplies, i.e. fabric, thread, hoops/frames, etc. my favouritest shop is Tandem Cottage. They are, as far as I can make out, a two-man-band (or more accurately, a couple :-)), and although this means that sometimes orders may take a little longer, their service is excellent, they are always ready to give advice or try and find what you are looking for if they don't stock it, and their prices are competitive (postage is also very good, though you'd have to ask about postage to America). Highly recommended!
