it sounds fun, if I can work finances and puppy sitting I'm in... I'm about an hour from kennesaw so I may just come up for the day (fixed income 6 dogs etc. etc.)

Unfortunately, my "maybeish" turned into a "no." :( Our travel budget is all allocated for the summer.

Better make me a 'no' too since we should be closing on the house June 14, so don't think DH will let me have a fun vacation so soon after. :) Too much unpacking to do.

I just got an invitation to my cousin's daughter wedding on Mass. that same weekend. As soon as I can figure out a good way to decline, I will. But this is a cousin who I am very close to. At the same time I am going to my noece's graduation in May in D.C. and I'm really not sure I can afford plan tickets, and expensive hotels two months in a row. Will be talking to my sister. My family also knows I hate flying. Hate it. And how much I have been looking forward to our stitchy week- end. So don't count me out quite yet. If I wasn't going to the graduation in May then it would be different. I guess it also depends on how guilty I feel.

So at very best 8 people.
Raven and elementaryteacher how sure are you guys that you will be able to go now that the date is getting closer. I know numbers would help but it makes it hard to get numbers if we don't have at least a semi certain number..we don't want to call and get quotes for 8 and then only 4 be able to swing it and then have to call and re negotiate pricing....There was a room that I looked at in kennesaw..it is called a suite, I don't know if I mentioned it on here or just to Dwitt but it has several beds and several rooms. It is sorta pricey but then we would not need to rent a conference room and it has a full kitchen so we could even do some foods in the room...what do you all think about that or are you more comfy having our own rooms...

I'm okay with a suite. It might be a bit pricey but divided up it probably would be cheaper than seperate rooms. I should know what I am going to decide by next week. I'm leaning toward stitching but guilt may win out.

I'm good with a suite, too. I think it would be better than separate rooms in that we have the little kitchen and can truly relax since it's in room and not having to get out and all decide on specific meeting times, etc. I am pretty sure I can go. The only thing is what I'm gonna do w my 4 year old. He probably can't stay with grandma since she her work is in the busiest season in June. There is still my hubby's business trip that might come up last minute but since nothing else has been said about it by his boss, I'm not counting on it.

Well. Dwitt and I talked today, and I am afraid I have some bad news. Things just aren't working out with this weekend for anyone. She now has some conflicts and to be honest it is looking harder for me to get off of work. If I have to take time off, I am afraid I am going to need to save it for family time. As it looks like we won't be able to use a lot of vacation time they are cracking down on overtime and if i take off it means someone would need to take overtime to cover my position. I am not saying no completely but things aren't looking good. Would anyone else want to continue from here organizing this...even moving the location/date to make it better for others.

would you believe what I was typing and just got ready to submit, and I saw your post. :(

:applesauce: for my sister who, said I should go to our stitch, meet and greet.she will represent the family. Yeah!!!! So I am again on the list of yes. Besides, I think all you young ones will need an older, mature woman to bring some common sense to the gathering. We all know that I never succumb to the temptations of stash acquisition. nor would I encourage anyone in that direction.. you did say that there is a really nice LNS in the area, didn't you?
It shouldn't be this hard, but I'm willing to make some changes if its possible.

I'm fine if we have to reschedule. If it's not in June, then that eliminated my only possible conflict. My baby's birthday is July 8th and we are going on vacation sometime this fall, so I'm pretty open if we need to reschedule. I will be happy to help out in the planning however I need to. We could let everyone who is interested give a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd option in dates they would be available and see if there is a front runner. Just an idea.

Okay.
So I am not totally counting myself out in fact probably leaning more towards going. Will talk to hubby and boss and see what I can do, I will continue to call and help plan either way and if you all continue in this town I may if I can't do the over night part, at least be able to make it for a day trip.

I am now counting
elementary
rcperryls
maemae0410
raven +2

I am going to send Raven a message on facebook and see if she is still counting on going.

I have a few places selected that I am going to call next week. So far online they all list under 100 for rooms per night. I must add these are not resort level places but as far as i know and can see online they aren't shady or seedy either. Before we make the reservations i will see if DH and I can do a day trip check them out.

when I get prices I will send PMs to the people who are attending with prices and webistes so we can decide...and then the spammers won't see where we are staying.

Here is our biggest issue if we are only us six that is at most 4 rooms we then do not really quailfy for any group rates and I am unsure if we will even be allowed to use the meeting rooms.

I know raven will want to share room with her two guests and then I was doing seperate rooms for myself elemtary and rcperrlys.
With that said if we do not meet the group rate with 4 rooms

*@* rcperryls and elementary you could save some money by sharing a room. Since I won't have to travel as far I don't mind paying more for a room so you all can hare and save money there or would you two want your own rooms as well??

*@* What weekend would be best for you all June is as early as I can schedule

*@* someone asked about the stores. there are three big box stores within a mile of each other in this town and then a LNS about 10 miles away...again that will all be in the PM I will send so people won't know where we are wehn we are there haha...and bunches of resturants

I don't mind sharing a room.

Did someone look into the suite type room so we could just all stitch together in there instead of needing a meeting room? Or, if at least one room is a larger room, we might could all fit nice and cozy in someone's room possibly...

I could probably go any weekend in June since I don't know if dh trip is happening or not. I could also go the 24th or the 31st weekends in May

I promise I have a good reason why I can't go.... I may be able to meet you guys during the day but staying overnight just won't be in my budget anymore.

Desiree, please don't let that stop you. If we stitch late in the night, I'll be glad to let you bunk with me. I think sharing a suite is a great idea. They usually have at least two bedrooms and splitting the cost among those of us who can, will be cheaper than individual rooms. Will also give us a kitchen or kitchenette (I do love my coffee first thing in the morning and my camomile mint tea at night) and space to stitch and gossip in comfort! I still like our original date. To be honest, I get very uncomfortable traveling during July through October and avoid it when I can. If we can't manage it this year ( :( ) I think we should consider it again.

Yes I am still able to go, as far as I know. I'm saving up a bit to be sure, though I did have to spend some of that money ($1,100 repair to my Little Yellow Pony Car).

My 2 guests will be my sister-in-law Stephanie and my daughter Samantha, both are adults.

My preference would be a room with 2 queen size beds (for the 3 of us), and able to smoke since both my daughter and I smoke. It's not a necessity that it be smoking allowed since I could always go stand outside to smoke, but it would be easier since I don't know for sure how my back will react. If it reacts real bad, walking isn't going to be going real well for me or my daughter (she has major back issues as well).

However the suite idea sounds great also, and I'm flexible either is ok with me (I can always step outside to smoke if the suite is easier for planning purposes)! On a road trip 5 years ago to go pick up my brother from NC, Stephanie and I had to stop over night (my back freaked out) and we ended up in a Suite. It had a total of 3 bedrooms, 2 of which had 2 beds each (twins) and the 3rd was upstairs with a Queen bed and the couch was a sofa bed. It also had a small kitchenette and a living room area. Plenty of room for 4 to 8 people to sit and stitch comfortably etc.

So (long winded answer) either way (hotel rooms or a suite) works for me. All I must have is a place to lay down when I really need to while I pace myself.

If I missed answering any questions directed at me (I think I got them all) just let me know :)

I'm really hoping this can work out. Oh! as for any other dates, any should be fine since I do not work and have very few out of town obligations and such.

I know some of you guys were interested, but the dates weren't working out well we found some lodging, and we had to change the dates due to the availability. As of now we have 6 people going, and are changing the date to
July 26th through July 18th..

Does this make it possible for any of you other ladies?
