I don't think I'll be able to come. I've just had too many little emergencies since December and instead of saving my tax return I used it to square up.

I understand when things like that happen but am sorry that you won't be able to make it. I'm still hoping to but will depend on if some other expenses get in the way for me too. If I win the Publisher's Clearing House on the 28th the trip will be on me. I find its a good way to fall asleep at night, planning on what to do with the money. Fortunately, I'm not as unrealistic as someone I know who is truly counting on winning (The lottery gives you better odds!). I am worried about her state of mind when that doesn't happen. But since there is no convincing her, we will just have to pick up the pieces.

Working for a Choice Hotel. I found two hotels that do offer smoking rooms that you might be interested in when the time comes to make a decision

Hi all, just saw this. It's a great idea and all respect to the organisers, it is very generous of you to put your time and effort into it!

I would like to go but it will probably be logistically too difficult.

Unless I could wangle a trip around that time... :thinks:

I know that most La Quinta's have smoking rooms. They're usually my choice when traveling across country, always near an exit and pretty clean (I tried a Days Inn once and was so disgusted I kept gagging and couldn't sleep at all the whole night).

Depending on prices I might still make it, as my hubby is deployed and I'm alone for 6 months. I'd just have to find someone to feed my kitties and who knows, maybe get a friend who'd want to be a travel companion for the road.

Is this list correct??
I will speak with dwitt soon to see when it would be best to start calling for room rates. This is going to be the hardest part of the planning I believe, because we will need a more concete head count to get the rates...and probably need the rates to get a concrete head count LoL

Unless something weird happens ( and one never knows with my family) and the final date is settled (did we settle on a date?) I plan to be there.

We just had a family member announce a wedding date for this summer in Brazil. Given the late notice of the date and the steep price of airfare, all of our travel budget is now going toward that.

I'm so bummed that I can't make it!

I sincerely hope that it's a huge success, and becomes a tradition (maybe annually in different host cities?).

It looks like we're putting an offer on a house and will close by May, so I'm very likely out as well. :(

I really hope the rest of you can get together though!

The house sounds exciting! And I'm :D for you. Have you sold your house already? But :( that you won't be able to come in June. Maybe if this turns out to be successful (can't imagine it won't be) we will do it again next year. Good luck with the offer! Keep us updated.

Do we have any updated info on a possible date or place yet? My hubby just found out he has to go to Idaho for a week in June and can take the family with him!! My luck will have these 2 events being the exact same time...surely out of a possible 4 weeks in June they will not overlap!!! Here is me keeping my fingers crossed that they are NOT the same days :x: :x: :x: :x: :x: :x:

It hasn't been scheduled yet. Don't change it on my account. He's not 100% sure it will pan out, and it may not be until last minute that it is decided on. I'll just play it by ear. But, since I know the date we are tentatively set on to stitch, if there is room to wiggle with his trip, I can let him know!!

Gosh I really wish I could go! I could do the stitchy weekend will yall and then swing by my aunt and uncles in alabama on the way back. Unfortunately I just don't have the money :( and around June I will most likely be focusing entirely on getting a job. If it goes well maybe yall can do it again? I also wouldn't have a travel buddy...I don't know anybody who stitches and I highly doubt my bf would want to come along. Oh well, here's hoping another chance like this comes around. (there is a very very slim chance things might work out and i can come but most likely not)

I would LOVE to go, but I'm stuck in California...
Now if anyone wants to start one up for southwest, I'd be even more interested as long as the time/place/cost is right. lol

I hope you all have fun, though! Would love to hear what happens.
