You could always try a ruffled headband instead though - short hair looks great in a headband. :)

Thanks for the link to that tutorial, I'll be using that!

Your afghan is coming along beautifully.

Edited:
I'll have to use thinner yarn, my ponytail isn't nearly thick enough for a scrunchie that size :-)!

I've been so busy I've had no time to myself recently, but it's gonna get busier! Got to stitch that wedding sampler, then I have a birth sampler commission and a wedding sampler design commission to complete! Going to my Mum's with Xan next week so I'll be taking projects with me...

Finally getting to do some stitching again - I have another commission! This time it's a family sampler. The customer asked for a "traditional" style ampler, but then went ahead and chose the least traditional style border I had designed - LOL! It's going to be on dark cream linen in dark red, so that at least will look quite olde style. It's going to be quite big - around 12" x 9", but at least I have plenty time as it's for a Xmas gift for her boss. :)

Good to see you! Was beginning to wonder if you'd become terminally tangled in your floss. Commissions are curious, aren't they? :thinks:

Sounds like it will be an interesting sampler. I hope you are planning on posting progress pics. How did your other samplers turn out? Beautifully of course. Glad to hear you have another commission.

I've been taking a break from cross stitch, to be honest - I think I got burned out with all the things I had to get done to deadlines and found I was enjoying crochet more. Anyway, here are the last few pieces I did before my break:

Here's the birth sampler I was commissioned to design and stitch:

Here's the little birth sampler I did for the birth of my cousin's baby girl:

And here's the dreaded claddagh wedding sampler for my friends:

I had several other design commissions too, but was glad not to have to stitch them as well.

I did, however, begin work on the new stitching commission this evening. I only did a little bit (and then did a little crochet to relax - LOL!) but I have a LOOOOOONNNNGGGG schedule for this one, as it's for a Xmas gift. I'm glad I can take my time on this occasion to ease myself back into stitching. It's been a while!

Well, I've started work on stitching that commission, but I'm not really getting into it or getting any enjoyment from it at all. It took some time to finalise the design from the different elements she wanted included and she chose all my least favourites, which has resulted in a design which I'm sure is nice enough, but is not anything like i would have chosen. The only things I like are the fabric and floss colours. Fortunately I have a longer time frame in which to stitch it. As long as it's finished for the end of the month it'll be fine, so I'm doing it a little at a time and returning to my crochet in between. I had really hoped this would be the project that would get me itching to stitch again. :(

I do hope you are able to get your stitching bug back soon Kell, and I hope this project will be more fun for you than you are thinking it will be. Can't wait to see pictures of it and your crocheting

So difficult to stitch something that you feel could be so much better if only they'd made the right choices! I hope you will manage to get into it and enjoy it even though it is not quite your choice
